The People Have Spoken!
First and foremost, I want to thank all of you who voted for me over at The Black Weblog Awards. I am now a finalist for “Best Humor Blog.” I appreciate the support, and I ask that you continue to vote for me. For those who didn’t vote for me the first go-round, you can make up for it by going to the 2006 Black Weblog Awards Finalists page and voting for me. This time, you don’t even have to type anything. All you have to do is click next to my name on the form. I’m also throwing support to all the sites I recognize on there and those whom I know I have brought folks over here(Ummah Park, Concreteloop.com, Bruthacode.com, among others). Just make sure y’all click on my name! I want to be able to say “Award Winning Blog” when approaching literary agents. Plus, it’s easier to get groupies when you win something. Look at Jaime Foxx, for Christ’s sake. That guy gets more butt than a public toilet seat now that he’s an Oscar winner.
You know what this means, right? I have to step up my game and keep every post funny since people will be scouting the site. I’m focused! If this thing were interactive, I’d put up a Rocky-like video training montage. Doing pull-ups in Rock Creek Park…bench-pressing my computer…running through the streets of DC and raising my arms in triumph at the top of the Capitol steps before the Capitol and Park Police tackle and arrest me, saying I look like a terror suspect.
For real, the music from “Rocky” will make you think you can kick anybody’s ass. That score gets your adrenaline running like no other! Even the music from the later films, like Eye Of The Tiger will get you ready to go do some push ups on your knuckles and whatnot. I watched the first film Monday at “Screen on the Green” and I can’t lie, I was hoping a fight would break out. Not just any fight, though. I wanted someone to get a courage transfusion from watching Rocky battle Apollo Creed, then go talk some trash to another guy whom they would normally know better than to mess with. I like seeing people run their mouth and get knocked back into reality sometimes. It tickles me. Am I wrong for that?
Speaking of Apollo, back when I was at Hampton, I took part in this fashion show where there was a bedroom scene. So the girl I was going onstage with was supposed to take my robe off and then start rubbing all over me. During the first rehearsal, I walked out with the outfit and the robe on, but folks didn’t know I was big on working out back then. I was cut up, for lack of a better word. When I took the robe off, one of the other male models had jokes. He said, “Good Lord boy! You look like a Puerto Rican Apollo Creed! Put your clothes back on!”
I can’t lie, it was funny…but he tried to make jokes every practice. I eventually had to say something to shut him up which I guess hit too close to home. He never really let it go, and carried a grudge for the rest of his college career. I can’t even remember what I said, I just know that it did not sit well with him at all. I hate when people can dish out jokes, but can’t take them in return. That’s alright, he won the first fight like Clubber Lang, a.k.a. Mr. T, but I knocked him out in the rematch and took back my title! It’s the Eye of The Tiger! It’s the thrill of the fight! Rising up, to the chal-lenge of our ri-vals!
I know some of y’all are at your computers playing air guitar right now, talking about “DANNHH! DANNHHDANNHHDANNHH! DANNHHDANNHHDANNHH! DANNHHDANNHHDAAAAAANNHH!”

Leon you ain’t lying about that Rocky music having you think you can kick anybody’s ass. My ex-boyfriend is a “so-called” rapper and he has a song using that beat, and though I hate his ass right now, I can’t front, that shit is bumping. That music will have you doing some 8-Ball & MJG shit, like bustin’ a nigga head, smacking a hoe, and tearing the club up! LOL
