It’s been an unusual week for me. As you may or may not have read in my last entry, President’s Day was not good for me. Well, the last coule of days have been petty good, but I kind of feel as if I’ve coasted through them without complete awareness of the world around me.
Tuesday for instance. I had no idea it was Mardi Gras “Fat Tuesday” until I just happened to walk into “Cheers” aka The Common Share. I went in that place to unwind real quick after a dreary work day, and left three hours later with beads around my neck and a court jester’s hat on, quite drunk. I blame the Bacardi girl for daring me to take 5 free shots in a row. I think she wanted to get me drunk and do things to me…but that’s just speculation(in case she reads this and tries to sue me).
Then yesterday, I didn’t even think about it being Ash Wednesday until I went into downtown DC. The first guy I saw with the ashes on his forehead barely had it on there. It looked as if he may have been in a fight, and took a punch about an inch and a half above the nose. I left it alone and brushed it off. Then, I saw about three more people walking together, and I put two and two together. I said to myself “Either it’s Ash Wednesday, or these people just had a charcoal fight. Since their clothes look a little too clean for them to actually be charcoal-chuckers, I’m going with Ash Wednesday.”
I started to get out of the zone once I went to the DC Blogger Meetup last night. I met a few interesting people who write blogs about a vast array of topics, as well as seeing a few familiar faces. I know I dropped the ball as far as getting those who e-mailed me about the last event the information needed to sign up for it, so I’d like to make up for that right now. On Tuesday, I was ready to get in my car and make the 7 hour drive to New Orleans for Fat Tuesday, because I couldn’t find a damn thing in ATL for Fat Tuesday. At the school I went to in Mississippi, we got a day or two off since so many of the students there are from New Orleans and the Mississippi Coast. (I got to post my Mardi Gras mammaries, I mean memories on my blog)
