I don’t know too much about Miley Cyrus. I mean, I know she’s making all kinds of money from being on that Hannah Montana show which every little girl on Earth seems to love. I also know she’s Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter, which means her family is still spending Achy-Breaky Heart money from the mid-’90s. Aside from all the paper she’s making, I now have a little more respect for this 15 year old, thanks to the way that she told a few irresponsible journalists to get a life.
As the story goes, some photos of her acting silly with one of her friends were made public Friday night. Cyrus went on New York’s Z100 radio station before a show up there and basically said that people need to stop being judgmental pricks and get a life, but not in those words. I have to give Miley some shine over here for standing up for herself in true ListenToLeon fashion. Besides, the pictures are not bad at all. When I was a kid, I’d do stuff like take powdered sugar at resturants and cut it up into lines and act like I’m gonna snort it, then put it on my face and reenact scenes from Scarface and What’s Love Got To Do With It (RIP Ike). So Hannah and her friend almost swapping candy is nothing major. Plus, I turned out fine despite my make-believe coke habit, so there’s no need to be concerned.
Will Smith also had to lash out at the media this week, when gossip sites tried to make him sound like he was some kind of Hitler supporter. I like Will’s quote: It speaks to the dangerous power of an ignorant person with a pen.”
In today’s day and age, this is very true. I never really claimed to be some kind of news reporter; just a funny guy….But I know that I have a responsibility to research the stuff that I put up here and make sure it’s as accurate and intelligent as possible. A lot of celebrity sites are only concerned with getting the scoop before the competiton, which leads to quotes like the one Will made being twisted around and blown out of proportion.
I really didn’t want to include this part of the entry, because I don’t want my adoring public ogling some bald-headed, muscle-bound reality TV bamma….but the clip is funny, so I’ll fight my urge to player-hate.
