Three Great DC Artists

I must be a pretty great guy or something. I somehow end up meeting all kinds of amazingly talented people, and befriending them. As a result, I present to you now, three artists deserving of recognition and acclaim. First up, is Aneikan Udofia:

This dude is one hell of an artist, and his illustrations have been featured in numerous local and national publications. You may have seen some of his innovative t shirt designs, or caught him doing his thing live at an AM Radio event.
Aneikan is having an art show tomorrow night from 8pm -1am at Bossa (2463 18th St. NW, DC) titled, The Sickness. I’m definitely curious to see what he’s got in store for everyone, so if you go, you might be lucky enough to catch a ListenToLeon sighting along with all the nice artwork!
Next is my friend Marlene, who maintains a photoblog at obsidianeyephoto.com/blog. When I saw her photography for the first time, I was thought to myself “I need to get this woman to help me finally make ListenToLeon.net look professional. She’s GREAT!” I literally wactched someone melt from cuteness overload while looking at the photos from her nephew’s first birthday party:

That kid, plus the prarie dogs almost got me. I was feeling too much saccahrine-sweet cutesy emotions from looking at all those adorable pictures, so I had to turn on Aqua Teen Hunger Force and wait for Master Shake to say something rude, crass or inappropriate to help snap me out of it. About 10 seconds into the episode, Master Shake talked his usual sh*t, and saved me from an O.C.ing(overloading on cute).
Marlene’s husband is actually the man of the moment right now, because he’s celebrating the release of his first book. Cory Thomas is the artist behind Watch Your Head a funny comic strip which runs in the Washington Post. The first collection of Watch Your Head strips can be found in bookstores nationwide.

I got an autographed copy of the book, but I still haven’t had a chance to meet Cory Thomas yet. Still, if you all are interested, I can try to arrange an interview with him for the site. Judging from the comedy found in the book, I’m sure that an interview would be a pretty entertaining read.
Support the arts, people. Even if you’re too lazy to actually leave the house…or too cheap to actually buy stuff…the least you can do is visit a few of the aforementioned artists’ sites. Or if that’s asking too much of your punk ass, then just leave a comment below, since your eyes are almost there any damned way.

Thanks for puttin me on to these folks Leon. I always feel like I don’t know what or who is happening in DC. Sometimes living in Alexandria is like living in Ohio, totally disconnected from the district. I’ll go peep out Watch your Head. I hop it runs in the online edition.
