The Common Share Takeover

As many of you know, I used to be a regular patron of a bar in DC named The Common Share. The laid-back vibe was legendary, and to be quite honest, I have yet to find a suitable watering-hole to fill the void left when Common Share closed it’s doors. That’s probably good as far as my liver is concerned, but it sucks because I don’t really have a place that I can always use as a fallback option if all other evening plans fall through.

That said, I say we take that motherf*cker back! I propose that all of the Common Share regulars whom are still in the area and are not currently incarcerated, all get together and show up at Beauregard, the Irish pub that happens to stand in the place that was once The Common Share.

We have to be slick about it though. If the Irish Pub folks know that the old crew is coming, they may conveniently close up shop that night in order to foil the plan. That, or have police in riot geat waiting at the door.

So since this is a covert operation, Here are the details: The mission is called “Project Mayhem” just like Fight Club. Also, just like Fight Club, the first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about fight club. The third rule of Fight Club? Shut cho’ ponk ass up and stop talking about the God damned Fight Club already!

To obtain details about Project Mayhem, send an e-mail to mayhem@listentoleon.net so that I can add you to the list of people in the know. I already implemented a few methods to filter out potential Beauregard spies, so be prepared for a brief “I used to go to Common Share” question in response to your e-mail.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing this mischievious plan come together!

I may have to actually make this a documentary @ The Jaded NYer…But it would require me finding someone with a better video camera than mine, since it’ll be at night. The karaoke videos are prime examples of how my camera works in low-light!

@ Common Share, y’all basads never gave ME a t-shirt! Then again, you gave me more than my share of free alcohol, meals, memories and support as far as the writing…So I’ll let the t-shirt thing slide!

@ KarrieB, write to the Project Mayhem e-mail address. That way, you can get the details and decide for yourself whether or not a road-trip is in order!

I wish I’d known about The Common Share when it was open. I saw the pics on myspace last year after it was a wrap. It definitely looked like the place to be.
