Digital Camera Recommendations

I have begun work on a few new creative endeavors, and the need has arisen for a digital camera. I don’t really need one of those state-of-the-art, top of the line ones with the super large lenses that some professionals use. I’m not trying to take photos so close to people that I see their molecular structure…

…Then again, that could come in handy at the club. I might snap a picture of a chick dancing, then warn one of my boys, like “Don’t’ dance with her, cuz! According to the camera, she’s at the early stages of ghonorrhea, and heart disease runs in her family.”

Seriously though…I just need to take images that will look professional for web use, print use(small-to medium scale), and general stuff like that. Trust me, you’ll be very amused once I finish up what I have in mind right now :)

    Three words: Canon, Canon, Canon.

I agree with the Cannon recommendation, an alternative would be Sony, they’re just as good!

Cannon, hands down. I use the EOS 300D, which is a very fancy camera (though a bit expensive, I dunno what your budget is). The normal lens is good for very sharp pictures and for an additional 100 to 150 bux you have a long distance lens too.

I feel a photo expose of folks’ on-train peccadilloes comin’ on. Like the aging white lady who gets in a minor workout on the train every morning from Greenbelt ’til about Shaw. Stank feet all up in the seats, laying across 3 or 4 seats, gruntin’ and crap. IN HER WORK CLOTHES!! If I see a pic of me asleep droolin’ on my suit at Gallery Place we gon’ fight.

Gotta go with the rest of the folks… get a Canon. I gotta Canon SD1000 and a Canon SD750. Love em!!! Hit up Costco if you gotta membership. They got tons of compact Canon joints.

LMAO @ Anonymousnupe. I try not to do that hidden camera sh*t, since the time I took pictures of this dude wearing the worst toupee in the history of mankind and posted them on here. Since then, I’ve decided that I was wrong for that. Funny, but still wrong…lol

There’s a new digital camera out now that can actually upload photos to the internet from anywhere.

    Nikon s52c

    Check it out!

I have a Canon powershot (I forgot the model number). It takes video too but there’s no sound on it. You have to get a memory disk (like SD16 or something like that) to store the pics on the camera. The one I got and put in my camera store like 9,999 pics. I got pics on it from April 2007 and can still put more pics on it. I got mine off amazon.com, on sale for like $117.

Oh my bad forgot to mention the zoom. It can go up to 10x digital zoom. Go on my facebook and look at my cousin’s grad pics, took all of those from my seat in the stands with the digital zoom feature.

Coming from another artist, Canon is the way to go. For what you are trying to do, a Powershot should do the trick. The Powershot also has a video camera on it, so if you get a large enough memory card, you should be able to get some fairly lengthy clips. AND Canon is the KING of lowlight situations. If you want to take photos at clubs, concerts, improv comedy shows, or any other almost dark place and don’t want to use a tacky flash, Canon is the best move. I’m obviously biased, but Canon has NEVER disappointed me.

@ J-Biggs, I used mine at a comedy club where I saw Kat Williams, Red Grant, and Lunell. You are absolutely right, I got great pics without using the flash, the wait staff didn’t even know I was taking the pics.
