The Three Olives Vodka Challenge

What’s up ladies and gentlemen,

This latest in the series of ListenToLeon.net challenges is only open to those who plan being in the DC area soon, or readers who are willing to travel to San Diego between the days of July 9th through July 16th. This contest: The Three Olives Vodka Challenge

A couple of days ago, Three Olives sent me three bottles of the newest flavors in their line of vodkas. Since I cannot drink all of this liquor by myself, I am looking for the funniest, wittiest or most creative way to promote these new products. If you have any ideas, leave them in the comments section. The idea that I like the best will entitle you to a free bottle of Three Olives Vodka, and the chance to drink it while hanging out with yours truly, the Hustleman himself.

So think about it: You get your own bottle, so wherever we go, there is no need to buy alcohol! This is the cheapskate’s version of liquor heaven. Plus, you get one-on-one time with The Great One. That alone is worth the price of admission, God damn it.

The three flavored vodkas that they sent me are Triple Shot Expresso, Root Beer and Tomato.

Once again, leave your idea in the comments section, and I will pick a winner this week.

Laughing that there are no comments so far….not laughin at you but WITH you. LOL

Those are some pretty nasty sounding flavors especially root beer and tomato. Do folks even still drink bloody mary’s???

  2. The Common Share 16. Jun, 2008 at 8:15 am #

So, basically you’re trying to give that nasty stuff away. Good Luck!!

  3. Hustleman 16. Jun, 2008 at 9:14 am #

@ CurlyQ, In all fairness, I typed it at 2AM on a Monday morning…so enough with your hyena-like laughter!

@ The Common Share, I can;t lie, those flavors don’t sound too appetizing, aside from maybe the coffee one. Then again, I won’t judge the stuff until I actually try it. I might make some fake-me-out ice cream floats with the root beer flavor or something.

  4. crys 16. Jun, 2008 at 9:19 am #

i thought there was a recall on tomatoes. hahaha

  5. Hustleman 16. Jun, 2008 at 9:26 am #

@ Crys, I thought the same thing! I was like “I’m gonna f*ck around and end up with a hangover AND somanella poisoning”

Then I remembered that the alcohol will kill the germs. That, and I’m pretty sure that it’s some kind of artificial flavoring since the stuff is clear like most other vodkas.

Tomato does not sound good at all. The root beer one though might be interesting, maybe mix it with some actual root beer…

  7. anonymousnupe 16. Jun, 2008 at 10:05 am #

You could show somebody drinking the coffee flavored version in a coffee cup, reading the morning paper, with a doughnut. Maybe show them topping off their coffee with the bottle. Same with the tomato and root beer: Show them drizzling the tomato one onto their homemade taco or pouring it over salad. They could drop a scoop of ice cream into the root beer one, like a root beer float. The point would be that the flavors taste so good, so authentic that you’d been tempted to substitute them for the real thing…BUT DON’T!

Lot’s of room for embellishment, but that’s what I got right now for a general premise.

    Holla.

    Root Beer?!?!

    Lawd!

Maybe you can do a play on 3 blind mice who are at their house on a triple date or having a party or something. There could be a prankster mouse sitting there laughing who has brought over what he told them are 3 fine lady mice. Each blind mice, asks the mouse to hand them orange juice, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice, but instead the cat hands them a root beer, tomato juice and triple expresso. The mice make the drinks, serve it to the girl mice and they love it and turn into really sexy mice..lol.. The tag could be then on playing on the senses..love might be blind, but taste is not… lol.. i need to do some work.

Oh yeah, http://www.threeolives.com has recipies for each flavor.

  11. anonymousnupe 16. Jun, 2008 at 1:02 pm #

Ok, now that I see they’ve got the “Drink Sexy” and “What’s in your Martini?” themes going, I can embellish a bit:

In my 3 scenarios the models would proly need to keep with the general look and feel of those iin the “Drink Sexy” campaign. Maybe the one with the root beer can be white, wearing bobby sox and a poodle skirt, you know, 50s/60s soda shoppe style, about to drop a scoop of ice cream into her root beer-flavored drink. And the one with the coffee flavor should be black since coffee is a major export of Africa. And the tomato girl would be Italian? Maybe she could be prepping pizza or something. But they all would be elegantly dressed and silky, as in the “Drink Sexy” campaign, and maybe they’d add a dash of garb from their native lands to underscore the authenticity? I know. I’m reachin’ here.

I never thought I’d pass up the opportunity for free liquor… but EWWW. Tomato? Root Beer?

    I’ll just have a bottled water… thanks…

  14. Babs 18. Jun, 2008 at 5:51 am #

I would love to know what the TOV people were thinking when they came up with these flavors.

  15. kayellejaye 18. Jun, 2008 at 5:52 pm #

Give me a bottle and I’ll let you pick which flavor you can take a body shot with…

    I vote for Root Beer.

  16. Hustleman 19. Jun, 2008 at 10:30 am #

This contest has been declared a tie. Anonymousnupe wins a bottle since his ideas were very creative, and Kayellejaye wins a bottle since she mentioned body shots.

Hit me up at leon@listentoleon.net so I can figure out how to get the liquor to you.

  17. anonymousnupe 20. Jun, 2008 at 10:40 am #

That’s ok. Just the notoriety, the achievement in itself is reward enough for me…unless, of course this turns into a lucrative, mult-million-dollar international campaign. In that case, all rights are reserved and I’m tryna get paid, too!

  18. Cincy 20. Jun, 2008 at 2:26 pm #

you should give each person their own bottle of vodka, they have before sunrise to drink it. all you gotta due is blog about how they deteoriated before your eyes.

  19. Babs 28. Jun, 2008 at 12:39 am #

Leon- I have to apologize to the 3OV people. I tried the Root Beer this evening (with a splash of coke). I only tried it because you wrote about it. It.Was.Delicious. Delicious I tell ya! Tasted just like a big glass of A&W.

I’m still not down with the other two flavors though.

The 3 Olives Vodka is awesome. Try it with cream and coke. Root Beer Float shot. The tomato flavor one makes great Bloody Mary’s. The grape vodka is also awesome!!!

I know it’s been a while since this thread was posted, but I just came across it and I have a couple of suggestions. I know the vodka is probably gone by now, but here goes anyway.

    Root Beer Float Shot:
3/4 oz 3 Olives Root Beer
    3/4 oz Stoli Vanil
    Splash Cream

    Give the Captain a ‘beer:
1 oz 3 Olives Root Beer
    1 oz Captain Morgan
    Fill with Ginger Ale

    Irish Coffee Shot:
3/4 oz 3 Olives Triple Shot Espresso
3/4 oz Irish Whiskey (like Jameson or The Knot)
    1/2 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream

I also know a guy who likes this one, but no one else will try it:
    2 oz 3 Olives tomato
Squeeze a little lemon in it
Shake and strain into a shot glass
Add a couple of drops of Tobasco
    Have fun

Other than that, I wouldn’t know what else to do with the Tomato. I think putting it in Bloody Mary’s is redundant, but people drink that Absolut Peppar, so whatever. Good luck!
