Swagger Soundtrack

Last week, a friend of mine found it amusing that I actually have a playlist on my iPod called Swagger Soundtrack. This list consists of over 500 songs that put me in that uber-confident state of mind. That’s right. Uber confident. I’m talking imported German Chocolate swag. Some next-level sh*t, my friends.

So if you were to make a Swagger Soundtrack, what songs would be on it? Here are a few samples from mine:

Ghostface Killah - The Champ I’m just saying…I’m the Blog Champ! I eat lighning, and crap thunder! I’ll leave a ring around your eye, and tread marks across your back! I’m James Bond, in the octagon with two razors! Don’t try me…

Leroy Hutson - Lucky Fellow I liked when Erykah Badu sampled this, but the original is way more pimpish, and better suited to my Half-Assed Superstar swagger. I’m such a lucky fellow, yes I am.

AZ - Rather Unique The title speaks for itself. There can only be one ListenToLeon.

DJ Khaled - Brown Paper Bag I hate DJ Khaled’s annoying hollering, but this song gets me motivated do what it takes to make that Scrooge McDuck paper. I’m talking ’bout backstroking through $100 bills! On some Special Ed, I Got It Made sh*t.

N.E.R.D. - Run To The Sun This song still makes me smile. For some reason, I never got tired of it…

The Dream - I Luv Ur Girl The Dream’s album pretty much appeals to my inner trifling bastard. I don’t set out to steal people’s women…But I can relate to what he’s singing about. Makes me flashback to Ill Al Skratch and Brian McKnight and them(which also made the soundtrack). “Now she runnin’ fingers through her hair, he tryin’ call her over there but she like FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK THAT NIGGAAAAAAA!

M.C. Hammer - Let’s Get It Started I just put this one on there because it makes me laugh. That was quite possibly the most low-budget music video ever made! For real though…If you were alive back then, you had to respect Hammer for being one dancing-ass motherf*cker!

Outkast feat. Cee-Lo - In Due Time This is one of those songs to remind you to keep your eyes on the prize. Cee-Lo was going to church with his high-pitched, raspy-voiced self!

Paul Wall and the rest of them - Chunk Up The Deuce Paul Wall talks about the same damned sh*t on every song, but it’s sounds like high-art over this beat!

Too Short - I’m A Player Not that I’m out here pimpin…but I think of this sometimes when I need to remind myself that there is no such thing as a woman who is out of my league. From Halle Berry in Hollywood to Sally Berry the security guard at Wal Mart: No vagina is safe!

Thugnificent and the Lethal Interjection Crew - Eff Grandpa Ok…this one’s not REALLY on my Swagger soundtrack, but that episode of The Boondocks was hilarious!

So what’s on your soundtrack?

  6. @ Sexy Ass Twanna, us early 90’s M.C. Hammer appreciators try to forget the “pumps In A Bump” era. Especially the video with him dancing in speedos with an erection. Thanks for posting the less-disgusting video for that song.

@ Jabari, I was just listening to “Let Me See It” earlier today! I thought about making a stripper sound track too, and that song would have been right at home!

  7. Too Short being on your list says it all. His songs are the epitome of overcompensation for what one lacks.
So basically a bunch of songs that degrade women make you feel good about yourself. Time to reevaluate your self image, “playa.” What a disappointment that the Post Express even bothered to put your blog in print. That’s 5 minutes I will never get back. Thanks, Pimp.

  8. I think a chimp just randomly picks which blog quotes make it into the Express. Stu, it took you five whole minutes to read that drivel this morning?!

  9. Is weird that I’ve never heard of any of those songs?

I need to step up my hipptiy hoppity game…

  10. One song I liked to play to get me pumped up for job interviews was Outkast’s “Bombs Over Baghdad.” I also love The Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up” and “Serial Thriller.” Hell, I take that back, Ill play just about any Prodigy song to put that extra bit’o strut in my walk, I love them!

I haven’t heard some of the songs in your list Leon, Ill have to check those out!

PS - I didn’t know Hammer had an erection in that vid, I just thought he either padded or was packin! Ewwwww!

  11. @ Kayellejaye, that was the girliest playlist ever!

@ Stu, what the Express noticed(which seemed to pass right by you) is that this is a light-hearted humor site. No need to do any psychoanalyzing based off of a bunch of YouTube clips. Thanks for visiting, commenting, and giving me 5 minutes of your life…which you probably wouldn’t have used to do anything noteworthy with anyway. Judging from the negative tone of your comment, I did the rest of the world a favor by providing them that 5-minute Stu break!

@ Anonymousnupe, you’re officially the commenter I love to hate. I look forward to what you post, but at the same time, I’m like “Aww sh*t. AnonymousNupe left a comment. Let me see what smart-assed remark he put up there today!”

@ Kanisa, I’ll have to let you listen to my baby(the iPod) one day, to help broaden your horizons!

@ Lola, Bombs Over Baghdad came on the other day, and I caught myself involuntarily dancing! Good choice.
