One of the best things about being a certified internet geek is that you find out about a lot of great things which can be acquired for the price of $FREEnintey-nine, but are totally worth paying for. Since it’s Valentine’s Day, everybody and their mother seems to have made a mixtape for the occasion. Since I’m all about sharing the wealth, I’m going to list a few mixtapes of note, along with their download links.
Olivia Munn’s Valentines Day Mixtape – Complex Magazine and the only woman on Earth with a sense of humor as random and irreverent as mine, Olivia Munn, have teamed up to present her eclectic mix of songs for Valentine’s Day. As you can see from the photo above, Ms. Munn looks pretty good tied by cassette tapes, so she must know what she’s doing. The reasons she listed for using the songs are pretty funny, too.
DJ D. Souff Presents Southern Seduction, Vol. 11 – Last year, I gave out DJ D.Souff’s Valentine’s mixtape to everyone who participated in the Black History Month contest. Since I didn’t hold the contest this year, I decided to share the latest mixtape from him with everyone. Lots of nice slow grooves for those looking to unwind tonight.
Nina B Presents The Happy Valentine Tape – Nina B. is one of the most interesting people I’ve encountered since joining Twitter, and easily one of the most talented. This mixtape is one that she is offering for free on her blog. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it just yet, since I spent so much time preparing my own podcast for this site. I’m really looking forward to checking it out on my iPod a little later, because she’s definitely a star in the making.
DC To BC Singles Awareness Day Mixtape – I haven’t heard this one yet either, but everything Modi and the folks at DC to BC put on the blog is quality stuff. Check out the entry, and request your copy over there at DCtoBC.com.
*Bonus* Sex, Love and Heartbreak, Volume 2 – I was just told about this site by Gureala, and it instantly earned a bookmark! I’ll definitely be back for more.

- If you do not have a Valentine and you’re looking to hookup with someone new, don’t go ugly early! These people are called “2:59s” for a reason: They are ONLY worth acknowledging to if you’ve had no luck all night, and the club is about to close.
- Remember that the only realistic expectation to bring with you tonight is to have an enjoyable time. Not flowers. Not candy. Not sex. Just focus on having fun, and the rest will work itself out.
