Drug(Commercials) Are Bad!

Almost every time I watch drug commercials on TV, I end up laughing like Harold and Kumar in the clip above. It’s not that I advocate drug use or anything like that. It’s just that most anti-drug commercials end up being…funny. From the classics like “This is your brain on drugs” on up to those “Truth” commercials about smoking, they usually seem to try a bit too hard and end up in comedic territory.

My favorite one right now is titled “Achievements”, and you can find it over on the Above The Influence site. The best part is when the black dude says “I ditched my friends, and let them find their own way home!”

The huge grin on his face made it look like he was still smacked out of his mind when he said it. Between that, the other kid’s stories, and the whistling music in the background, it’s a great commercial! I’m sure plenty of people are sitting around getting high as gas prices and laughing their asses off whenever that clip airs on cable and network TV. For the most part, I have to give credit to Above The Influence, because their commercials are creative and visually well put together. However, the “Achievements” one never ceases to make me smile…for all the wrong reasons!

“I left my ex girlfriend 27 messages last night!”

they need to scare kids with the ads in order to do anything, otherwise they just see them as a big joke, just like we saw them when we were young…remember the “i learned it from watching you!!” ad? hahaha…

all they have to do is to just show kids Jared Leto’s infected arm scene from Requiem for a Dream. that’ll work.
