6 Overtimes?!

Usually around this time of year, I’m watching Georgetown kick ass in the Big East tournament. Since my favorite college team to watch since age 5 got beaten in the first round, I really didn’t know what to do about this year’s tournament. Thankfully, there have been a lot of great games that took my mind off of Georgetown’s underachieving season. None better than the one I just got through watching!

6 Overtimes?! I mean really?! 6 OVERTIMES?! I don’t think I’ve done anything in my life 6 times in a row! Even with the girlfriend I thought was “the one”, I think our relationship high was the time we did it 4 times in one night…and we didn’t have to run up and down a 90 foot court!

I tip my hat to the kids from Syracuse for winning that game, and to the UConn Huskies for not passing out right there on the court, and taking it to 6 overtimes.

*EDIT* Ok, I have done something that many times in a row once, and actually blogged about it. Last Spring, I played about 9 games of playground basketball in a row since we kept winning, then got my ass handed to me by Mr. Life In Chocolate City himself. I can’t use those 9 games as an excuse though…I knew I had no business going out there at that point, and dude did what he was supposed to do: Made me pay for it! Either way, I’m ready to go whenever he’s ready for a rematch!

That call-out wasn’t all that subtle, was it? Ah well…Who cares? If UConn and Syracuse can play 6 overtimes, then I’m ready for my damned rematch! I’m saving some energy this time, too!

The sad thing about this year’s edition of March Mayhem is that it will probably not feature Stephen Curry and the Davidson Wildcats. This would probably have been our last time to catch him as a collegiate anymore. The NCAA should mandate, though, for the sake of television ratings, that as long as that guy plays college ball his team makes the tournament…even if they’re 10-15!
