Obama’s Bracket Picks

What do y’all think about our Commander In-Chief’s NCAA Tournament picks? I’m just happy that we have a President cool enough to allow ESPN to come to the White House and document his bracket choices. What’s even cooler is that he’s definitely pretty knowledgeable about college basketball. I guess this is impressive to me because I’ve NEVER seen a President that seems this down to Earth and likable, while at the same time, focused and intelligent. I’m convinced this dude is some kind of alien from another galaxy.

Ok, maybe Obama is not a spaceman, but he’s one of those people who comes across as way cooler than you’d expect him to be. Kind of like Justin Timberlake. I already know I’m going to hear it from black folks for comparing Obama to J.T., but I don’t care. Half of y’all are probably the same ones singing “OOOOOHHH! I been traveling on this road TOO LONG! Just trying to find my way back home” when that song comes on the radio. So stop faking.

You can laugh if you want to, but just wait. When T.I. gets out of jail, Obama’s gonna sing the hook on his first single after knocking out healthcare reform. You heard it here first!

Yeah, at the very least our president is a mutant.

Man, did you see John Legend’s behind-the-scenes video of the Obama clan visiting backstage after the inaugural concert? O was all like, “Hey, baby! How you doin’?” as he shook hands with Beyonce, Mary J, and the rest of the Hip-Hop nabobs. I was surely taken aback during the entire scene. It’s like we coulda vibed with Black POTUS down at HI/HU or somethin’!

DANG!!! I didn’t close my italics tag after the question mark! Dang no-preview-having…

Mutant sounds about right. He does seem to have everything covered. I was gonna say he’s more like a really cool robot though. Like a mix between Johnny 5 and the Android from Star Trek.

He has the Heels winning it all. Very smart man!

Actually I think the pick is suspect, with Lawson hurting.

y’all are saying, oh, cool, he’s great, he knows basketball.

i’m saying, what’s up with a job after graduation, man? you’re gonna watch ball? or help this recession disappear? shit!

LMAO @ Modi’s comment! Good point!

@ Dee, Yeah, so far, so good

@ Jabari, they handled business this year, so we’ll see

    @ MDUBB, I’m LOL @ you mentioning Johnny 5

@ Anonymousnupe, him being a mutant would explain things. I was thinking the same thing about Ty Lawson, too.

lemme find out you have a man-crush on our president. how cute. *pinches your cheeks*

i also think it’s appropriate that the song you referenced is playing on my streaming radio right now. it’s kismet.

It’s great to know that we have a President in tune with the culture of which he commands.

However, his love for UNC may fall short when they see LSU.

    “focused and intelligent”

“cool enough to allow ESPN to come to the White House”

lol. wow,. you really drank the kool-aid, didn’t you?

  13. ListenToLeon 19. Mar, 2009 at 2:17 pm #

I truly hate that “Drank the kool-aid” expression. As far as corniness goes, it’s right up there with “It is what it is” and the use of the word “change” as a marketing phrase thanks to the campaign of the man who supposedly passed me a cup of kool-aid.

…Although to be quite honest, Obama’s cool points would actually increase if he were to ever pass me a cup of Kool aid on a hot summer’s day. That’s just a damned friendly gesture!

Seriously though, thanks for stopping by to comment.

Krisha, is Kismet that that new Indian rapper on the Arista label? He’s dope.

Personally I am more interested in how competent a president is on issues like the economy, foreign policy etc. than how “cool” a president is. But I guess I’m weird like that. Hey, the budget deficit is over $1 trillion but at least we have a president that is down to earth and would be cool to hang out with!

  16. ListenToLeon 20. Mar, 2009 at 5:38 pm #

@ Colin you have a point, but you have to be realistic about this yourself. The last guy who held this job was among the most incompetent Presidents in history, and he left quite the messy clusterfuck of complex problems when he left office. To believe anything else is lying to yourself.

50-something days into his presidency, I’d say Obama’s handling the job pretty well, given the circumstances…So let him have a personality for Christ’s sake!
