BET, you guys have been alright with me this week, so I really hate to have to make fun of your network. An article I wrote was published on your site for the first time ever, and that made me smile. Then, I saw a commercial for Tiny and Toya, which quickly took away that smile, and replaced it with a “What the hell is this?” smirk. I know I’m late with this one, but baby’s mommas are getting reality shows now? Is that what reality TV has become? I mean, I guess it’s better than VH1 leasing reality show hoes from Chicago Larry, but still. I’m dissapointed, people!
Before this starts to sound like an attack, I want to make it clear that I’m not knocking Tiny, because she can sing her ass off, along with the rest of the women from Xscape. I don’t know anything about the Toya lady, so I’m not going to personally clown her, either. It’s just that the commercial that I saw went something like “T.I.’s lady, and Lil’ Wayne’s ex have their own reality show.” I don’t know about the rest of you, but the first thought that ran through my mind was “Why should I give a damn? Who really cares what these two do on a day-to-day basis?”
Then, I remembered that I asked that same question about Keyshia Cole and her family when they first got a reality show, and that was one of BET’s biggest hits of the past few years. I can’t watch it, because I can go just outside and see hoodrats arguing with each other in my neighborhood in the summertime. I don’t need to spend my TV viewing time around more of that, although Keyshia’s breasts almost make the family drama bearable…but that’s neither here nor there.
How many of you plan to watch Tiny and Toya? Are you looking forward to it? Or are you expecting it to be a train wreck?

Hi Tina and Toya, I just love your show. At first I was sceptical about watching the show, cause I thought you guys were uppity. But I see that you guys are beautiful people, I mean everybody got something wrong with them. Nobody is perfect, and who cares what people say anyway, those people are either jealous are not happy with themselves. All I want to say is keep up the good work, love you guys.
I would like to first start off by saying that Tiny an Toya show is a good show to watch.. I had my doubts at first about it but once I watched the first season I couldnt wait for the next one.. It just shows real life to me on how they have grown as people as wifes an mothers and as business people.. nobody is perfect we have all made mistakes an we learn from them. An as far as the way they talk its where they come from an its all they know.. you cant help the way you were raised an how you talk.. I am a white viewer an I have biracial children an I think that it is sad to see other black woman down each other an Im not even black.. We all as women white, black ,or whatever need to stick together an encourage each other to be successfull.. i love the show an I think its good to show how important family an friends are..So to all the haters out there knocking the show get a life an it obvouisly isnt that bad of a show or u wouldnt be taking the time out to watch it or comment on it.. I have a hard time getting passed Tiny’s looks to even entertain the show. Your sitting there watching something else on BET and here comes one there advertisement. Can BET put a limit on how many times they advertistes this show a day (25+)if not I may have to stop watching BET if they don’t.

I think that Tiny and Toya gave a good name and face to a lot of our young black sistahs who have come out of the ghetto. They always try to bring their families together and always leave positive messages at the end of the show. These young ladies really did an excellent job of behaving in a mature fashion, unlike the Atlanta housewives or the Basketball wives who are supposedly women from a upper class background but yet they are acting very ignorantly. Thanks so much Tiny and Toya for dispelling the myths that all people from the hood do not know how to act, thanks for being good role models. I wish you much success in the future, and I will always support your future endeavors.
You know what? Years later, I can agree with you that even though I didn’t like the show enough to watch it much, it did have a much more positive message about it than the other shows you mentioned.
I still don’t like it, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would have been back when BET premiered it. That said, I’m not changing this entry at all. I like seeing the comments from angry BET viewers who can’t spell worth a damn LOL
