I’m still having a hard time wrapping my mind around this whole Michael Jackson thing right now. Websites are saying that he died, and Twitter is going crazy right now, but I don’t know how to feel about it. Part of me wants to wait for a truly credible news source to tell me if Michael Jackson is dead or not instead of relying on a bunch of nigga-net Tweets and Facebook status updates possibly jumping the gun. The other part of me is has a really bad feeling about this, to the point that my stomach is upset.
I grew up on Michael Jackson’s music, and even though I made jokes about his appearance and weird habits, I never lost any respect for his talent. I also hoped he’d get a chance at redemption in the public’s eyes after all he’s been through. Mike has been famous since he was a pre-teen. Add that to the allegations abuse that his father allegedly put those kids through, and it becomes clear that he never really had a chance to live a normal life like the rest of us. His story is both amazing and tragic at the same time when you really think about it.
I’m going to stop talking about Mike in the past tense, because right now I still don’t know if he’s gone yet or not. I don’t trust TMZ and the other gossip bloggers enough to go off the toe tags they’ve already placed on Jackson. I’m sure I’ll hear about it soon enough though. I love social media and the internet, but It’s sad that we’re at a point where speculation and rumors are so rampant that at a moment like this, you don’t really know what to believe.
I’m just going to leave with one of my favorite MJ songs, and contine to hope for the best while bracing myself for the worst…
I hear you. My stomach’s in knots right now. But until there’s an official statement from a Jackson family member, I’m not believing it. MJ lives damnit!
My stomach is upset over this. My eyes are welling up with tears. I didn’t know I would be this affected by it.
He defined a music age and his music was truly a priceless gift.
It sucks aging and losing such great people! I am so happy for youtube and all those things we can look back at! I don’t even want to watch TV because they are focusing on negative shit! We want to remember the GREAT! Rest In Peace Michael! We will miss you!
Wow, MJ is the 3rd to leave us this week!!! It’s too hard to fathom.
Once they confirmed his death, I had to unplug for a few hours and get my mind right. I went to see Transformers II, but after that, I started listening to some of his music and now I’m watching CNN coverage.
@ TLUV, most of what I’ve seen on CNN has been respectful coverage/tributes.
I will surely miss Michael Jackson, he is really worthy of the name King of Pop and he is certainly one of the greatest musicians of all time.
