Chris Brown’s Apology

What do you think? I am personally hoping that this is the first step to Chris Brown getting his life together and growing from the horrible decision he made to put his hands on Rihanna. I hate to see someone that young and talented throw it all away with one poor choice. That said, Chris Brown’s poor choice wasn’t something harmless like getting caught smoking weed in the car; it was beating a woman. It’s going to take awhile for him to move past this(if he can). What’s worse is that he’s a lovey-dovey R&B singer. Will this ruin him? Or will it be another case of the R. Kelly Effect?

As you’ve probably guessed, the R. Kelly Effect is when a celebrity gets in legal hot water, yet it has no negative effect on his overall popularity or success rate. This is also known as Marion Barry Syndrome. I guess peeing on a willing, underage sex partner is easier to look past than beating up another celebrity. I don’t know how you’re supposed to judge something like that, but it’s happening right now at a message board, water cooler or Twitter page near you.

Once again, I definitely want to get your opinions on the Chris Brown apology. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

He doesn’t sound all that sorry…
His music is not that good either, nor his dancing, nor his looks – FUGLY!

and what’s with the religious shirt?
attention young men: do not look at this guy with respect – he is a damaged person

Pray for this kid – he needs a lot of help.
What he should do is start volunteering at battered women’s shelters and donate his entire bank account to them as well.

Well, Chris didn’t pee on Rhianna, so I guess the jury is still out on this one. Hence the formal apology. Yeah, every little bit helps.

Man, it is too little too late. His video really did not seem sincere. I don’t know if it was bc of the cue cards or whatever, but it was bad. B-A-D.

I am with Jennifer. He doesn’t seem sorry.

    Danny,
you hit the nail right on the head. (no pun intended) but that’s exactly what would account for a sincere apology. real actions

I feel for him. He had no choice but to not say anything because of legal advisement. I think it was sincere because sheesh, EVERYTHING has just about been taken away from him. Yeah he shouldn’t have hit her, and yeah it wasn’t bright to leak her nude pics, but there is more to that story abt the incident that I’m sure we’ll never hear. He’ll rise back up to the top because he really is a talented kid. I mean if folks can forgive R. Kelly who was caught on tape and had Aaliyah lie about her age to marry him, they can surely forgive Chris.

Apology sounded like it was written for him or atleast sm1 got him to do it. Dont u think if he was sincerely sorry he’d hav come out with an apology immediately??

Though his apology does sound stilted. He is a young man, who made a most regrettable mistake.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: heart felt or not, it’s an apology and many domestic violence victims don’t even get that.

Unfortunately though, he won’t go any further with donations to women’s shelters or the like if the fans don’t expect him to. A lot of his fans were fine before the apology and now that he has apologized they will act like his slate is wiped clean…

Even throughout the whole trial Chris Brown still had a lot of adoring fans. A lot of young girls were just like “never mind Rihanna, we still love you,” ignoring the fact that he messed up…same thing with R.Kelly. I just hope he really changes. And honestly, I do believe he made that apology because he was advised to do so. He lost a lot of money and endorsements because of this.
