Race Baiting Bites Glenn Beck In The Ads

Finally, advertisers are getting fed up with cable “news” shows and the propaganda they’re spewing out. Fox News’ Glenn Beck is feeling the heat from advertiser pullouts in the wake of calling President Obama a racist on his program. The whole situation brings light to the ass-backwards inner workings of cable news in this day and age. The illustration below outlines exactly what I am talking about.

As you see, almost all roads lead to the same place. I don’t watch Glenn Beck’s show, but I know that the other ones like it, both liberal and conservative, are so skewwed and biased that I mainly watch them in order to laugh, and stay current on what the next big political catch phrase will be. They should be labeled as “Opinionated Entertainment” instead of “News Shows.” Then again, if it weren’t for them, there’d be no Daily Show or Colbert Report, so I guess I cannot be entirely upset at them for providing talking points to millions of people who are too lazy to think for themselves.

The last thing I’m going to speak on is the race-baiting tactic that Glenn Beck resorted to. It amazes me when I see the level of discomfort that a lot of white Americans have right now. Between the election of an African-American President, and the rapid growth of the Hispanic community in the U.S., some people really fear that they are “losing” the country. This is ridiculous for three reasons:

1. White people still own everygoddamnthing and have the lion’s share of the world’s wealth.
2. I had another reason, but that first one is a motherfucker!
3. Shit. Nevermind.

It’s going to take a lot more than a President to change that, so the folks out there worried about some giant power shift should calm down already! To quote the great Paul Mooney, white people still have the “complexion for the protection” in the United States, so pulling the reverse racism card at such a high level is ridiculous. Actually, it’s ridiculous at almost any level, unless you’re in some bizarro world scenario where you’re a poor white guy living in an all black neighborhood and people are taking your lunch money every day, whipping your ass and making you answer to the name “Honky Lips.”

Then maybe, the reverse-racism card is warranted. Right now however, it’s just inciting a nation of brainwashed idiots to the heights of rage on one side of the coin. On the rational side of that coin, the rest of us are fed up and disgusted.
