The U.S. Has Gone Crazy

crazy-cat-man

Caution: Today’s entry might sound a little harsh; maybe even somewhat mean spirited. It’s not. What you are reading is tough love, delivered from a man unafraid to call it how he sees it. Therefore, read on, and try not to get too offended if and when I should happen to pull your card.

There. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, I can say it: The United States of America has officially gone crazy! Madness, I say! Plum loco! We are the world’s equivalent to the crazy cat man in the photo above. I have a lot to say about the state of the nation right now, so let me just break it up by subject:

Passive-Aggressive “The President Is Black” Angst – Right now, I see this as the biggest hurdle for the US to overcome. Many conservatives have made it clear that they will stand up and vocally oppose just about anything President Obama says or does. Anytime a President gets assailed for wanting to talk to school children about the value of a good education, you know something is wrong. How ass-backwards is it, to tell one of the greatest success stories of our time, “Nah, your advice is no good here”? That’s just stupid for the sake of being stupid!

Don’t get me started on the health care mess – From people carrying guns to Town Hall meetings, to folks being uncivil and obnoxious during the course of said meetings, it’s pretty ridiculous. The people who are the most mad don’t really have any grounds to be that upset. They are either insured already, or so old that they have a good 4-5 years left at best before Mother Nature and Father Time come together and put them out of their ornery old people misery. Calm your old ass down, shut the f*ck up, and enjoy these final years instead of spending them yelling at politicians and raising your blood pressure!

Besides, it should be the other way around. There should be lines of poor, toothless folks who lost their jobs lined up at these meetings, demanding health care reform. Which brings me to my next point…

Democrats are acting like bitches – Obama won the election pretty handily, yet the Democrats are losing the sound-bite battle to the folks I mentioned in the first couple of paragraphs. Democratic leaders: you have the majority! Stop laying there and taking it, and stand up for yourself! Grow a pair, and start delivering some legislative bitch slaps of your own! What good is having power if you don’t use it to slap the sh*t out your opponents when needed?

Van Jones – I’m conflicted as far as the Van Jones thing. On one hand, I can see why he said some of the things that he did. A wise man once said “With the history of this country, what’s a black man without a healthy dose of paranoia?”

I agree, because as someone aware of the past and looking toward the future, you can’t just be happy-go-lucky and assume that there are no hidden agendas or negative dealings going on. The Tuskegee Experiments, the FBI spying on MLK and Malcolm X, the amount of minorities who spent years in prison for felonies, only to be proven innocent by DNA evidence decades later…Bad things happen, so it’s best to subscribe to the C.Y.A. school of thought: Cover Your Ass, and keep your eyes open!

Where Jones went wrong, was making PUBLIC inflammatory statements about Republicans, and refusing to control his rants. I don’t even blame him for the 9-11 petition, because I’ve had a few conspiracy theorist moments myself over the years. I blame him for not watching his mouth in such a high-profile job! Yes, freedom of speech exists, but freedom of speech does not give you freedom from the repercussions of what you decided to say. You have to know when to hold ‘em, and know when to fold ‘em. Whatever the case, I hope Jones is able to find some other way to continue his work with Green Jobs.

I know that was a lot of ranting in one blog entry, but I had to get it off my chest. I was too busy catching up with friends and loved ones to voice my opinion on these issues over the weekend…So, better late than never!

Well said! These fools crying about health care are not effected! They’re crying because of that old rule by Chris Rock. It goes, “There’s nothing a white man with a nickel hates more than a nigga with a dime!”

Hey, man, nothing wrong with venting…it clears the air, lol. And I have to say that I agree with you on most of the points here.

I can honestly say that I hadnt heard much about the VJ situation til I caught the article in yesterdays Wash Post. Funny thing is, he kinda looks like an old bf of mine…who was also kinda crazy too. Hm, could they be the same person?? lol

I concur! And you’re only saying what many of us have said out-loud and/or thought to ourselves. Nothing harsh or mean-spirited about the truth AT ALL.

On one hand, I’m glad for the lunacy because it let’s us all know where we stand as a country. It also let’s blacks and other minorities know where they stand in the minds of many in this country. On the other hand, it makes me seriously want to hurt quite a few people in this country. So sad that we all have to be dragged down by these idiots. I wish they would just secede already.

Unlike u, I believe that many of those ranting and raving and foaming at the mouth are the very people health care reform is designed to help. However, don’t ever underestimate the power of hatred and stupidity especially when it is being manipulated by the evil. A good ole case o’ swine flu and no health insurance may just might be the thing some of those people need to see the error of their ways. This is just the right-wing propaganda machine at its best. Along with the Democratic leaders, where are the rank and file Democrats?? Protesting from your couch in front of the TV or from your laptop ain’t gonna cut it. There are numerous rallies coming up, let me know if ur interested.

Good Post! Intereting reading while waiting my turn at the barber shop this morning!

@ Lee, thanks. Glad I could help you pass the time at the barbershop

@ T-Luv, Kindra, Caress Lepore & MisJay, I appreciate that.

@ Chris, you’re absolutely right about getting involved. Send any info you have to leon@listentoleon.net whenever you get a chance

@ Minnie, that’s a good point about knowing where people stand. There’s a new book out about the secret service that says threats on the President’s life have increased 400% since Obama took office.

@ Lola Gets, leave it to you to relate this to a crazy ex…LOL
