The Floyd Mayweather Sugar Shane Mosley Argument

Floyd Money Mayweather, Shane Mosley Post Fight Argument

It’s a damned shame the most action from Saturday’s fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Juan Manuel “Pee-Pee Man” Marquez happened AFTER the fight! Shane Mosley decided to come to the ring and pull a Kanye West during Mayweather’s post fight interview, which led to a bunch of arguing, a bit of shoving, and Max Kellerman fearing for his life.

I’m not a big Larry Merchant fan, but I will say that Merchant would not have gotten frightened and asked Jim Lampley for help in that particular situation. Larry will walk up to a guy right after he got his behind kicked, and ask him messed up questions like “So, what’s going through your mind right now after suffering such a savage, brutal, one-sided beating?” I’m really shocked that no fighters have pulled a Latrell Sprewell and choked the hell out of Larry Merchant, but that’s neither here nor there. My point is that Merchant would not have been intimidated by the situation.

If a live-action version of The Simpsons is ever made, Larry Merchant is the perfect person to play Moe the bartender. He just appears to have “bitter old man” written all over him. He reminds me of those crusty characters you see in boxing movies that are in the gym all the time talking shit, like “Ya gotta be QUICK, Rocky! Ya gotta EAT LIGHTNING, and CRAP THUNDER!”

Whatever the case, I think that the only way Floyd Mayweather will fight Shane Mosley anytime soon is if Manny Pacquiao gets defeated by Miguel Cotto. Otherwise, it’s not smart to fight someone like Shane Mosley BEFORE the potential payday of a megafight against Pacquiao. I think Mayweather was trying to diplomatically tell Mosley “You’re not worth enough money for me to fight you” in a diplomatic way. That, or maybe he actually was was running from a tough fight. Either way, Floyd knows where his next big payday is coming from, so I don’t really blame him for not immediately accepting Shane Mosley’s impromptu challenge.

Dude Larry Merchant is a beast. He would have never let Floyd punk him like that. I didn’t even know other people were allowed to do post fight interviews. That’s like not having Buffer do the intros.

Floyd looked great after a 2 year lay off and if he continues to train at that level he’ll be even better. That will be a problem for Mosely, Cotto or Pacquiau.
