I Have To Work On Columbus Day

Christopher Columbus, thanks for nothing. Punk bitch. I’m not even going to question the fact that we gave a holiday to a man who got lost, “discovered” a country with people already living there, then murdered and spread smallpox to a large number of the native inhabitants. At the risk of pissing off folks who wouldn’t normally read my blog anyway, I’ll leave that alone.

The focus of this rant is the fact that this Christopher Columbus’ holiday is as half-assed as his “discovery.” It’s not like Christmas or New Years, where almost everybody has the day off. Columbus Day is one of those holidays where other than government employees, it’s up to everyone’s respective bosses to say “let’s make some money today” or “fuck it, let’s stay home.” As a result of this being a half assed holiday, I had to take some time out to rant about Christopher Columbus’ stankin’ ass. To all the folks who had to work today, I want you all to look at that portrait of Columbus and give it the finger one good time. Thanks in advance, and I feel your pain.

      While I think the issuance of a holiday to this murderous fool was/is ridiculous you do realize why you had to work right? Companies usually pick between having MLK day off or Columbus day. If you enjoyed a nice day in January off that is your trade for yesterday.

      Well at my company, we don’t get Columbus Day OR MLK so I guess I’m in the office when most people aren’t. This year, we didn’t get a day for the 4th either because it was on Saturday. We got shafted all the way around.
