The Foreign Exchange DC Show Pt. 1

Nicolay and ListenToLeon

If you’re not up on The Foreign Exchange, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. It’s really that serious. You are missing out on true musical talent, in an era where chanting “AY! AY!” over a hot track like some kind of mentally challenged homosexual is all you need to get on the radio.

No offense to gay people, the mentally challenged…or even OJ Da Juiceman, because I’ll openly admit to having that song on my “guilty pleasure” playlist. All dumb-ass drug deal anthems aside, let’s get back on topic.

Sunday night’s Foreign Exchange show at the Black Cat in DC was flat-out great. I had a really good time, and I will continue to give Nicolay, Phonte, Yahzarah, Darien Brockington, Rapper Big Pooh and Co. good press over here on ListenToLeon.net as a token of appreciation for their music. Here are some of the highlights:

As you can clearly see from the photo above, Nicolay is tall as Hell! Then again, this is coming from someone who is literally shorter than a Smurf.

Yazarah and ListenToLeon

Yahzarah. Yahzarah. Yahzarah. The woman can sing her ass off, AND she’s quite sexy. This photo doesn’t even do her proper justice. I had to document the allure for those of you who couldn’t be there. You’re welcome.

Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh held it down, as usual. I’ve been to two Little Brother shows, both of which were great. Still, they didn’t compare to this.

Darien Brockington can sang. Notice I said “sang”. I’m sure he can “sing” too, but Sunday night he was sangin’ like a soloist in someone’s Baptist church! During the show, I said “This dude just channeled the spirit of Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway, Billy motherf*ckin’ Ocean…ALL them n*ggas!”

Big Ass Fosters Can

Fosters: Australian for “GOD DAAAMN THAT’S A BIG-ASS CAN!” Once again, this photo does not do it justice.

Giant can of Foster's

In order to put that can in perspective, look at it next to a normal-size alcoholic beverage. That’s the beer in the cooler that takes all the other beers’ lunch money. Kind of like The Gooch from Diff’rent Strokes.

Stop back by later on, because I’ll have some video clips for you all, once I get a little time to upload them. Gotta send out some love to all of the Twitter folks I ended up meeting in real-life at the show, as well as the old friends I ran into.

Yeah, fam and I went to see them last earlier this year, and the show was excellent. Even got up on stage and danced with J’Davey (they were the opener)! That’s three of my future ex-wives I’ve danced with (Janelle Monae and Yukimi Nagano from Little Dragon, being the other two.) And I forgot how tall Nicolay was! My sister took a pic with him, and she’s only five even!

Good seeing you Sunday, little brother! Sorry to burst your bubble, but like I told my wife, Yazarah was scoping me out the whole show. OOKAYYY!

Put everyone on to Mayer Hawthorne next.

It’s great to read something that’s both enjoyable and provides prmaagtisdc solutions.
