Ever see a pair of shoes in the closet that you haven’t worn in a long time, and asked yourself “why don’t I wear these more often?” This happened to me yesterday. Since they looked perfectly normal, I put them on, and left for work. About halfway into my trip, I remembered EXACTLY why I stopped wearing them. Those shoes are EXTREMELY uncomfortable!
As I walked around yesterday, I was made to wonder why my right shoe evidently had a strong hatred for the back of my heel. I say this because it rubbed against me to the point that it drew blood. Good thing Achilles didn’t wear this particular pair of Cole-Haan hard-bottoms when he went to battle. If so, the Illiad would have been a short story instead of an epic poem. Poor Achilles would have walked on the battlefield and instantly collapsed, having bled to death from a dress shoe exploiting the only place an injury could get the best of him.
Then again, anyone who goes to war in dress shoes clearly has a death wish. I know ancient Greeks did not have modern shoe technology back then, but Achilles would have looked at these, then shook his head disapprovingly before using his pinky finger to kill the men who suggested he wear them. Basically, that’s what I’m doing right now. Shaking my head that is, not embarking on a one-fingered murder spree.
I think the only reason I didn’t get rid of these shoes or give them to a homeless person with a high pain threshold is the fact that they’re paid for and still look fairly new. Otherwise, I would have parted ways with them much sooner than this. These shoes have tasted blood. Therefore, they can no longer be trusted, and I have to put them down.
Ladies, if you are fortunate enough to ever go out on a date with me, I will now be a little more understanding if you tell me that you do not want to dance anymore because your feet hurt. I will also let you take your heels off when we inevitably have sex, and not just because I’m scared that you might accidentally scratch me with them. This experience has made me a much wiser, compassionate soul.

How dare you speak ill of Cole Haans, lol?
Damn, L. I actually have apair like that. Tearing the back of my foot the hell up!
Band-aid has made this WONDERFUL product specifically for this issue and I love it….Band-aid Friction Block Stick is offically THE sh*t…..
thank god you skipped the one-fingered murder spree. even one-fingered sprees make the news.
@ MZ, I’m wearing a COMFORTABLE version of Cole Haans today. The ones w/the Nike Air sole technology! LOL
@ lani3000 So it’s not just me, huh? Sorry to hear it
@ Phoenix7 I never thought I’d need anything like that, but thanks!
@ fB, very true!
there you go bro. Cole Haan’s x Nike Air is slept on. Although, I think my Cole Haan hard bottoms are the most comfortable dress shoes I’ve ever had.
Check DSW because they have em there from time to time.
The same thing happen to me a few days ago but they weren’t Cole Haan’s they were some Michael Kors wedges and it was my left heel. I thought, why havent I worn these? they must be comfortable because they are wedges. I was so wrong. I was so mad by midday I almost bought a new pair of shoes in Macys at lunchtime but the line was too long. So, I had to suffer it out. At least though your “learning yet painful” experience you’ve learn compassion. Mine, I already have them ready to donate, never again will I wear them. I dont care how much I paid.
