A few days ago, I read an article that reconfirmed what I already knew to be true: Soft drinks are bad for me. “Soda”, “pop”, or whatever it’s called where you’re from, is literally going to be the death of me if I don’t get my act together! I like having teeth in my mouth and a functioning heart, so I’m going to make an honest attempt to see how long I can go without drinking anymore soft drinks. I am currently on Day 3, and I will chronicle my journey for you all over here on the blog. You guys out there in Internet Land will be my support system, whether you like it or not.

Sorry…my lack of sweet, sweet, bubbly sugar-water caffeine has made me a tad bit irritable. Didn’t mean to lash out like that…but what’s done is done. Get over it, and help me fight the good fight! Last time I tried to do this, I only made it to about noon on Day 3. I have officially made it further along this go-round, so congratulate me or something! Either way, I’m gonna see just how bad this addiction really is. Aside from falling asleep a little earlier at night and drinking more water than I ever have in my life, I haven’t noticed much of a difference just yet.

You can do it! I only drink gingerale if I must have a soda. Currently, on the master cleanse (for the 2nd time), gave up all meat except fish after the first time (get your mind out of the gutter…lol). Most of it is mental. If nothing else, you will be healthier.
I did something like this one time. I cut out all dark sodas, pepsi, coke, cola. And if I drank any soda it was like orange, pineapple, or clear (sprite, sierra mist). I also gave up burgers one summer. If I got one it was at Burger King. I could really tell the difference. Especially when I gave up colas. Good luck!

I now have to drink it straight, which means I’ll probably switch to a better tasting, albeit more expensive bourbon like Booker’s or Basil Hayden.

you think it’s bad now… wait til you take a swig of coke or pepsi 3-4 months down the line…
but depending on how much you drink, you should be cool to still put mix with it.
I’ve given up soda as well. Going on 4 months now. It was staple in my life because I work overnight and I need caffeine (and I don’t drink coffee)! I found an alternative in Crystal Light Energy. It’s got as much caffeine as a Mountain Dew and it’s only 5 calories :D
