Apparently, Detective Baylor does! Today in DC, an off-duty police officer decided to break up a snowball fight, BY PULLING OUT HIS GUN! Can you say “anger management” people? How about “overreaction?” Or “asshole” maybe?
The story goes like this: There was a huge organized snowball fight at the intersection of 14th and U Street where everyone was seemingly having a grand ol’ time. Everyone, that is, except Det. Baylor, whose Hummer got hit with snowballs. Our ornery officer decided to get out of the truck mad as hell, brandishing his weapon. I don’t know why that got him mad. He’s driving a Hummer for Christ’s sake! Hummers are military vehicles! If they can survive the rugged terrain of Afghanistan, surely they can hold up against a few snowballs.
The City Paper has footage of the snowball fight, photos of the officer with his weapon, and an actual video of him admitting to pulling his gun on the crowd of snowball fighters. I’m glad this happened on U Street where there were plenty of white people with cameraphones around who know their legal rights! Had it happened in certain other neighborhoods, I’m pretty sure the whole thing would have gone unnoticed. Whatever the case, I hope Detective Baylor is held accountable for his actions.
Oh yeah, I want to end this by giving the digital finger to all the jerks out there who get a little bit of athority and abuse it, like this guy.
