I rarely ever drop the F-bomb in my title, but I think Pat Robertson’s recent comments on the earthquake in Haiti make him a more than deserving target for the mother of all swear words. It’s disgusting to hear a so-called man of God call this catastrophic disaster “a blessing in disguise.” These are human lives we’re talking about. Women, children, priests and missionaries, all among the dead. Therefore, I think I speak for a large number of the intelligent and enlightened members of the human race when I say: Pat Robertson, you sir, are a motherfucker.
I can’t stand it when people hide behind religion in order to justify hatred and intolerance. It makes me wonder why so many kind-hearted people die young, while miserable curmudgeons like this guy live to a ripe old age. Then again, that type of thing is not for me to worry about. I’m just going to continue my prayers for the people of Haiti and their loved ones, now that I’ve taken a few moments to rip ol’ Pat a new one. If this entry didn’t get blocked from your work computer, let me know what you think about it.
It’s sad, but you kind of get to the point where you’re waiting to see what these particular people are going to say, the Robertsons and the Limbaughs of the world, knowing that it’ll be something like this. Tragedies like this happen, and they use it as an excuse to push their narrow-minded agendas, and it’s absolutely sickening. And the fact that they’re such high-profile individuals reminds you just how many more people are out there that are just like them. These aren’t random guys who only exist on the internet or anything. They’ve been building their reputations through widespread media such as television and radio, and reached staggering heights of noteriety.
It’d be more shocking if Robertson actually took the opportunity to just be a human being, and be sympathetic to the plight of his fellow man. But clearly, that’s asking too much.
Unfortunately, lots of people associate Christianity with this dude. I know a number of agnostic and atheist folk who cite Pat Robertson as a reason for their lack of Faith. There are a lot of “Christians” who take Robertson’s Word as the Gospel. It’s really sad.

@Jabari – Believe me, I’m not one of those people. I’m well aware of the difference between people of faith and religious zealots, the latter giving the former a bad name sometimes.
But the bottom line is, someone really needs to slap that man some “Ack’Right!!”
