Getting Hung Up On

angry_phone

When was the last time someone hung up the phone on you? It’s been a long time since anyone has done that to me, but one of my friends had it happen to her on Friday. She said that some guy she’s only known a couple of weeks got mad that she could not hang out with him that day, and hung the phone up on her in a male hissyfit.

I can’t condone or respect such behavior, because hanging up on someone is a double-dose of b*tch-made passive aggression. It’s almost like delivering a quick slap to someone’s face from a moving vehicle. A respectable individual will at least tell you “I’m about to hang up the phone now, so you might want to stop talking” before taking such a measure. Conversely, drama queen types are the ones who will hit you with the dial tone sneak attack and expect you to call them back, or care.

The last time I got hung up on, these are the thoughts that ran through my mind, in this exact order:

  • “Is that a dial tone? This fool BETTER be driving through a tunnel or something…”
  • “Did this really just happen?”
  • “This did just happen! That motherf*cker!”
  • “Ah well. One less punk b*tch in my life.” *laughing while deleting number from my phone*

People, I implore you to remove the hang up tactic from your everyday anger arsenal, and save it for exclusive use on stalkers, telemarketers and bill collectors.  To people like the guy in the first paragraph, if you use the angry hang up strategy on someone you’re attempting to woo romantically, he or she is going to think that you are a psycho. Especially if you do this in the early stages. At least try to hide your crazy! Whatever the case, I hope you all got something out of today’s ListenToLeon Public Service Announcement.

Come to think of it…I haven’t hung up on someone in a really long time…I don’t think i ever have to be honest with you. Now i did get hung up by my best friend during an arguement…and I was more so mad because I didn’t want to repeat what I said while being angry. ….I kinda had one of those “no this bitch” didn’t moments.

Yeah, how do you think those “breathers” on the phone feel? They probably only get in about 4 breaths before the dreaded “click.”

Ah, but Leon. You left out those who deserve to be hung up on. Those who keep talking that dumb ish when you are trying to just reason with them. Those who are having a conversation with about 20 other people in the background or either a Butterfinger and smacking in your ear.

After you have asked them to please repair, after you have warned them, there is nothing left but the dial tone. Click-up. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I totally agree with you, Leon. But the good thing about a man hanging up on you, especially in the early phases, you know to stop wasting time with the idiot. There is no coming back from a man showing his bitchy tendencies in the first 90 days. I don’t even owe you an explanation of why I ain’t fooling with you anymore after that!

I hang the phone up on my son on a regular basis, say what I have to say, I gets the final word, then click!! lol

You can’t really hang up on someone good and hard anymore with a cell phone. You gotta use a old school phone that your Granny still has at her house.

I got hung up on just last night which, quite frankly, turns me into crazy mode – like blinding rage anger. why?

@ ChellsBellz, I understand not wanting to repeat yourself later.

    @ Tracey-Ann, I figured you’d react that way!

@ Marissa, “breathers” definitely deserve to be hung up on, too! I had an angry “breather” threaten me over the phone in college over some girl. After I called him a cowardly bitch, I definitely hung up on him!

@ Max, like you said, let them know…but if the foolishness continues, then…*click*

@ Creole Peach, VERY true! If you a person can’t hide their crazy for 3 months, then they’re doing you a favor in the long run!

@ MsDailey, Moms should always get the final word with their children

@ Sasha, yeah, you don’t get that same violent slamming effect…Unless you REALLY hate your cell phone and want to destroy it in a creative way. Then, you’ve killed two birds with one stone!

@ Hilarious Tubman, I get mad too for a quick second…not blinding rage mad, but still…
