Honest Question For Party Goers and Promoters

twitter

Let’s have a moment of Twitter honesty, everyone. To all tech savvy party promoters: Do you tweet about how great your events are, even on the nights when they’re wack, or empty as Hell?

I have an even better question for party goers: How many of you all actually tweet about how great a place is in the middle of partying? I know it happens from time to time, but I’m just saying…I am as addicted to social media as anybody, but if I’m really having that great of a time, you probably will not hear about it from me until after the fact. I am going to be too busy doing whatever it is I’m doing that’s making me smile to try to sum up my thoughts in less than 140 characters.

Maybe I’m just being a little skeptical. I noticed a few tweets from folks out partying last night(yes, on a Tuesday night) and my inner conspiracy theorist led me to believe at least one of the people on my timeline was bored to death in a place where he or she paid a cover to get into, therefore pride caused him or her to try to save face in the virtual world via a series of made-up tweets. Below is an illustration of what I’m talking about.

@BoredandLying – We going in over here!!! Doing it big!!!

@BoredandLying – The most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen is grinding on me. Can barely type!

@BoredandLying – Having sex in VIP with two Victoria’s Secret models. Typing this w/my left toe

@BoredandLying – I just kicked the entire security staff’s ass, then gave the models two more orgasms as the club cheered me on

@BoredandLying – This is the greatest party ever! You guys should be here!

Granted, if these claims were true, then maybe this would be considered the greatest party ever…but forgive me for being just a little bit skeptical!

I’ve sent out a blast while in a club before for two reasons:

    1) I am (and a lot of my friends are) a fan of good MUSIC so when a DJ is havin a good set, I’ll tweetStat it (tweet it and Facebook stat it). I did it a few weeks ago actually at District’s happy hour as SupaScotty was KILLIN EM LOUDLY with seratoness…

    2) I’m also prone to tweetStat “FAAs” – Fat Azz Alerts – to my boys to let them know if I’m in a spot with a LOT of women for them to flirt with :)

I’ve seen a few cats tweetStat from a club before when it’s hawt…but the cats I know don’t do it in general when it ain’t..

I tweet from the club because even at the best party it’s a lot of down time. why?
    1. Everyone else around you is tweeting & RTing how great said party is.
    2. You can’t dance, drink, talk the entire time and every down moment I get I’m reaching for the phone out of habit.
    3. I’m trying to make sure that I’m not missing anything better.
    4. It’s good to check to see which females are bored and awake for me to hit up when I leave the “greatest party ever”. not a fan of getting w/ a girl after she been dancing all night, sweating, & driking. Would much rather call the girl who sat @ home bored and won’t be tired.

@ eFromDC, Good point. I’ll be on the lookout for “FAA” tweets LOL

@ ByronLinnell, I do the same thing as far as #3, checking to see what else is going on when I’m out. I’ve left a decent spot for lesser ones a few times though, which is probably the reason I’m so Tweet-weary now!

#4 is a great reason, too. Your site looks great, BTW
