I had a chance to catch Get Him To The Greek last night, and surprisingly, it was much funnier than it looks in the commercials. The trailers for this film do it absolutely no justice whatsoever. At a certain point, I was actually in tears laughing! Plot wise, it was nothing groundbreaking. As far as laughs though, Get Him To The Greek delivered. If you enjoyed The Hangover or any of the other Judd Apatow-produced Jonah Hill movies, then you will probably like this one as well.
Get Him To The Greek is a spin-off based on Russel Brand’s eccentric rock star character from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He and Jonah Hill were funny as expected, but the person who made me laugh a lot more than I anticipated was Diddy. He was basically playing an exaggerated version of himself, as the record executive “Sergio.” It was easily the best thing I’ve ever seen Diddy do, acting-wise.
The movie opens today, so if you’re looking for something funny to see at the theater, I recommend seeing it despite the crappy-looking commercials which for some reason have unfunny scenes in them that aren’t even in the movie. You can check out the first 5 minutes of the movie here, unedited.

Saw it at a special preview where Brand and Hill showed up to talk about the movie. I enjoyed the movie but really liked hearing the stars talk about working with Diddy. They had a million funny stories about him which made the scenes even more hilarious with the background knowledge. A lot of the dialogue was improvised. Respect to Diddy who, while playing an outrageous record exec much like himself, was the scene-stealer in much of GHTTG.
I would have loved to have heard them talk about the making of the film. Diddy really did steal a lot of scenes in Get Him To The Greek.
