Blogging While Brown Inspired Me

Last weekend I attended the 3rd annual Blogging While Brown Conference in Washington, DC. This weekend, I’ll be at DC Carnival. Both inspiring events, for very different reasons! Whether it’s professional growth, or scantily-clad women dancing around in broad daylight, June has been one Hell of a month for me! I like where this Summer is heading.

*Warning: More name-dropping than a Game verse lies ahead*

I finally got a chance to meet a number of bloggers whom I’d always wanted to, such as Luvvie, Afrobella(whose advice helped me back in the day), Baratunde Thurston, Scott Hanselman, Angela Benton(who gave me the opportunity to write at Black Web 2.0), world renown professional sexpot Funky Brown Chick(What? It’s on her business card!), as well as many, many others. It still surprises me when folks I’ve never met tell me that they read my site. I mean, I know people come here…but let’s be real. I’m not famous. Infamous in some places, maybe…but nowhere near famous. I’m just a regular guy, trying to find a way to make an honest living talking trash and acting silly.

I came away from the conference refreshed, and ready to make changes on this site. The only reason I’m not at the level that I want to be right now with this, is me. I’ve never done enough planning as far as this blog, so it’s almost as if I’ve been successful despite myself. The good thing about it is that since I’ve come to this realization, I’ve actually taken steps in the right direction. That’s good for you, because I have a head full of ignorant-ass thoughts to share, guaranteed to keep you smiling!

As far as DC Carnival, I’m all for any event that encourages outdoor partying and half naked women shaking their backsides to a beat. I really don’t have to say anything else about that, because you’ve seen my refrigerator so you probably already know!

Next week, it’s off to NY for a few days to do some work. This June has been quite the productive month, so I cannot wait to see what July has in store!

    I’m sure that’s not the only thing on her business card, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?!

    *awful, but makes much more sense than saying “that’s what she said!”

    @ Classick Material I think a “That’s what she said” could potentially work in this situation, but it would be a bit of a stretch! You must have seen the photo on the other side of her card LOL

    @Classick Material: I didn’t quite know what you meant until I realized you wrote it IN ALL CAPS. Then, I thought, “Oooooh, THAT’S what Classick Material means.” Naughty ;)

    @Leon: Great meeting you, too!
