It’s time for me to get a real logo for this site. What better way, than with a contest? I design logos and sites all the time, yet I tend to struggle in that department when it comes to making MY OWN stuff look good. I used to think that it’s because I’m my own worst critic, but now I know the truth: I just don’t feel like doing more design work after spending 8 hours of my day in front of a monitor picking digital cotton on this plantation we call Corporate America. Therefore, I’m going to let one of you do it for me!
I have no prizes to give away at the moment, other than bragging rights and something to put in your design portfolio. That, or I could possibly buy you a couple of drinks, if the thought of being paid in liquor is actually appealing to you. Whatever the case, the ListenToLeon Janky-Ass Logo Design Contest is officially OFFICIAL! If for no other reason, then because I want to get one of these made. Here are a few things that I’d like to have in a logo:
- Something that captures the essence of what readers like about my site.
- Something that is humorous or expresses humor.
- Something clear at a large or small size.
- It doesn’t HAVE to feature the URL in it, but I need to be able to place the URL above or below it when I use it for promotions.
- I’d even be open to a caricature of me, as long as it’s funny. For example, I tried making one with me as an angel & devil kicking each others’ asses, but it was WAY too busy to use.
So as you can see, I’m giving you a ton of flexibility. Then again, I guess I can’t be too picky when my contest prize is literally “So what’chu drinking?” Please submit your entries to leon@listentoleon.net in any suitable format(jpg, pdf, eps, etc.). Today is July 28, so let’s say that the deadline will be August 7. After that, I will post the finalists and let you all vote on which one should be the official corporate branding of ListenToLeon.net, a website specializing in sh*t talk. Funny, I thought professional graphic designers hated contests like this one. I will submit something if I am struck by inspiration.

suggestion: maybe you could hit up a design school…students feign for real work and you could still get something good on a budget. :)
@ Kuh, Hey, I was honest about the spec work! Anyone who does it can’t say I lied to ‘em LOL. Besides, I don’t think I trust anyone enough to come up with an identity for my shit, so it’s probably not going to happen. I’m actually working on the site redesign right now.
