Fooling Myself

Last night I tried to outsmart myself, yet still ended up looking like an idiot. I’ve gone all day long thinking that my cell phone battery was dead since I left the charger in a work conference room. Once I finally got a chance to go in there and plug it in, the screen said that the power is at 76%. Then, it all came back to me: I cut the phone off last night in a precautionary measure so that I’d be able to use it in the morning if I needed to. Somehow, I totally forgot about this and just assumed that the battery went dead overnight.

I think I’ve reached a new level of simpleton. I say that because it takes a special kind of person to think “let me try to fool myself” then fail at it so badly that you actually end up sort of succeeding in your first objective, but in an ass-backwards way. The level of energy it took just to put that last sentence into words was actually pretty draining. The only winner in this entire scenario is my phone.

Do any of you all ever try to trick yourselves? For example, a popular one is setting your watch 5 minutes fast, so that you won’t be late for things. That doesn’t work for me, because I already know I still have 5 minutes to fart around until I have to be wherever I’m needed…but for some reason a lot of folks do it. If anyone else does stuff like this, feel free to share your stories here. Also, I know that photo above has nothing to do with what’s actually written here, but I honestly couldn’t think of an image to go along with this post so that’s why I posted it. Plus, it makes me smile.

Unless you have a iPhone, go buy yourself an extra battery. I’ve got three & an extra charger, so I don’t have to outsmart myself any longer lol.

Plus to be late… is unacceptable!

You’re right about being late. Obama is in office, therefore C.P. time actually means ON TIME now!

I keep a charger at home and at work and i have my car charger, lesson learned and i have 2 old cell phones…one at home and one in my car in case something happens, i pop the sim card out and im in business, i dont care they arent smart phones they get the job done when needed. also i set my alarm ahead so i can push the snooze button but in the back of my mind i know i can push the snooze on my alarm one extra time since im 15 minutes ahead of time :)

I have to keep the alarm out of reach now, or else I will snooze myself right on into the next calendar day!
