The other night, I was told that rappers Soulja Boy and Fabolous have been Twitter beefing. It’s official: hip-hop is at the bitch-ass point of no return. Between the insults, threats and accusations flying from keyboards, I really hope it does not lead to an actual confrontation. I say this because neither one of these two look like fighters. Who really wants to see them close their eyes and windmill the f*ck out of each other until security breaks it up? This especially goes for Soulja Boy, because, well…just look at the guy. He looks like a terminally-ill leper in a Gucci cap. Maybe if he’d spent some dough & gone to Mister Cartoon, all those tattoos would have some sort of rhyme or reason to them and he’d look a little more respectable. However, since he’s covered in a random collection of haphazard shit, I must laugh at this photo.
The sad part is, I’ve really been making a conscious effort to avoid making fun of Soulja Boy. I respect the guy’s hustle and drive, because anyone who is savvy enough to get to where he is at such a young age has earned a measure of respect whether I like the music or not. That said, he keeps making himself a joke target, so as a comedian it’s hard to just let all that potential material slide by.
Fabolous on the other hand, is entertaining enough for me to follow on Twitter. Still, the man has been misspelling his own name for something like a decade now. I know it’s just a stage moniker, but when you sound out that spelling, it sounds like someone trying to say “Fabulous” with someone else’s dick in their mouth.
I’m not even going to delve too far into the fact that a grown man calling himself “Fabulous” sounds gay as glitter, because that joke kind of writes itself.
Although I have unleashed a small-scale jonin jihad on these two, I do like some of their songs, so it’s all in good fun. I still think celebrity Twitter beef is some bitch shit, but I hope these two listen to their PR people from now on and learn a lesson from this.
