Here’s the video from the SpeakeasyDC storytelling event I was a part of back in September. Watching this, I immediately noticed two things: my delivery needs a little work, and the Harlem Globetrotters on my shirt are not that clear to people from a distance. On the positive side, people laughed at the story, so I consider it a success overall. The theme for that month’s event was “The Underdog: Stories About Beating The Odds” which is why I told my story about the only time in my life where I got bullied. Tuesday, they’re having another storytelling event where the actual theme is bully-focused, so I’m going to attend this one but not go onstage since I’d pretty much have to tell the same story all over again. You can get the details on the next event here.
Let me know what you think of the video. I would love to do something like this again, especially now that I can clearly see what aspects of presentation and public speaking I need to work on and improve thanks to this video.

This looks like a really cool place to be at. Good Job leon!
Thanks Jelani
Been having issues with keeping the video embedded here, but I think I’ve finally fixed everything now.
Good one!
Thank you Mike!
Good story :) If I wasn’t primarily paralized with fear of public forum, I’d consider something like this myself. Imagine the scenarios looking white as a black person in PG county could inspire lol.
I bet! If you decide to try it, check out http://www.speakeasydc.org/
They give you a coaching session and help you out so that you’ll be ready to tell your story onstage.
That was good Leon! Funny and endearing at the same time.
