The First Warm Day of Spring

Cherry Blossom trees in Springtime

I always have trouble dressing appropriately on the first nice day of Spring. I know that sentence brings to mind women who wear their “happy hour” dresses to work and try to cover ‘em up with a jacket or a cardigan until 5:00 PM on the dot, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I am referring strictly to comfort.

Yesterday, I had on a short-sleeved polo shirt. Outside, I was quite comfortable. Inside, however, almost froze my left nipple off. I was two  degrees away from cutting on my space heater on an 80 degree day. I need to learn how to dress for really nice days like that, while also being prepared for the way-too-cold-for-short-sleeves conditions of working in an office. I have never been one of those jackasses who breaks out a pair of shorts, flip-flops and a t-shirt at the first sign of 60 degree weather, which is probably why this problem irritates me so much.

Why do offices keep the thermostat on Antarctica, anyway? I went to heat up my lunch in the kitchen area of the office, and saw 8 penguins marching past with Morgan Freeman’s voice in the background narrating their journey. They must think that shivering = productivity.

All work temperature questions aside, I will say this: I am very happy that it’s warm outside. Despite today’s rain, I’m feeling good about the next month or so before Summer kicks the temperature into overdrive, then keeps on speeding it’s way to Hell on Earth.

P.S., For the record ladies, I love your happy hour immediately after work clothes, so please, proceed to wear them at slightly inappropriate times whenever you feel the urge!

I proudly blasted my space heater yesterday and today. Unless they bust a hole in my office and give me a window I have to dress for the chilly office and just do layers to help transition to the outdoors.

Its hard to plan for all the weather you encounter during the day.

I’m guilty of the summer attire with a blazer or sweater routine and my office thermostat it stays on arctic. One of the service guys said it was just like a woman to run a heater when its 80 degrees outside, I told him to get at me when it was 80 inside.

You can only prepare for one temperature or wear layers to peel off throughout the day. That’s like too much work.
