Black Dynamite the Animated Series on Adult Swim

The moment has finally arrived; Black Dynamite the Animated Series is here! The series pilot goes live on AdultSwim.com Monday, August 8th, 2011. That’s this coming Monday!

I was actually invited to view the first episode at San Diego Comic Con but I didn’t go, mainly because my Blogging While Brown trip went over budget. I could have flown back out to California, but I would have risked losing my day job* to do so, and either way, I would have been living off of Ramen noodles and off-brand Steak-Ums from Murray’s for the rest of the month. Since I had no desire to actually join the ranks of the working poor, I decided to stay here in DC. Plus, I actually met Michael Jai White on my last day in Los Angeles at a random party and talked about Black Dynamite briefly with him, so that was a decent consolation prize.

This Monday, I can finally see what I missed out on. The fact that pretty much all of the core cast from the film(White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley, Byron Mimms, etc.) are reprising their roles and doing the voices for the show lets me know it will be funny. Having Carl Jones of The Boondocks involved assures me that the animation will look great. If you don’t believe me, take a look at the trailer below.

I don’t know if it’s even possible to duplicate the level of hilarity that the Black Dynamite film achieved, but if it’s anywhere close, I’ll be a happy camper! Oh yeah, here is the video of the Black Dynamite Comic Con panel I was supposed to be in the audience for.

*Oh yeah. I still have a day job. Blogging isn’t that lucrative…yet. So since I refuse to start pimpin’, I’m gonna have to tough it out & continue to pick digital cotton on the plantation called Corporate America awhile longer. I do this for the love, dammit!!!
