Trends Leon Hates: The Vest Edition

I strongly dislike Aaron Nevile vests paired with small t shirts

What in the Aaron Nevile f*ck was this guy thinking?!

My latest fashion pet peeve is seeing men in vests and small t shirts. Why some people choose to walk around dressed like Aaron Neville these days, I don’t know. Not only that, but looking like a soft Aaron Neville, minus the mole and muscles. Wearing a little vest like that with a small t-shirt makes you look like Aaron Neville would look, if his appearance matched his voice.

Let me first make it clear that I’m not making fun of Aaron Neville. He’s owned that look for years. It’s his. Besides, Mr. Neville looks like a very large man. The last thing I need it to get my ass kicked by an old guy capable of belting out beautiful, high-pitched negro yodels while pummeling me with his ham-hock fists.

Also, to be very clear, I blurred out the face of the random “trendy” fellow in the photo above to protect his identity. Years from now, he may look back on this photo and say “I wore THAT to the club?! No wonder I didn’t get laid! I looked like I belonged to a Segway biker gang that night.” So you see, I am not a total d*ck.

If you happen to be one of these little vest-wearing people, by all means, it’s not too late to see the error in your ways! Then again, this is just my opinion; if you like your snug, torso-hugging man-cessory, by all means, you have the legal right to wear it. Whatever floats your boat and makes you happy, my friend. I will not judge. I’ll make jokes while snickering amongst my friends, and maybe some total strangers, but no judgement!

The only one that can get away with those vests are Aaron Neville. The only people that can get away with sweater vest in general are Jim Tressell and Carlton from the Fresh Prince.

funny thing is – I have a co-worker that dresses like this for work (of course with a sweater vest and tight tee). So I sent this to him as a joke. As payback – he’s been playing Aaron’s greatest hits REALLY loud all day. lol
