Every Friday is now a National Holiday. A holiday where you can embrace all of the music you like, but you’re afraid might get you made fun of in some circles. From this day forward, I declare every Friday to be Guilty Pleasure Friday.
Yes, I am powerful enough to simply declare National Holidays. I mean, have you seen my biceps? I do whatever the Hell I please! However, I’m not strong enough to bully all of your bosses into letting you take the day off from work, so I’d advise you to enjoy Guilty Pleasure Friday from your office desk, and with headphones on.
Oh yeah, that Alfonso Ribeiro album is real. I actually know someone who owns it. This video isn’t a guilty pleasure because I don’t like it, but I have to post it in order to prove that this sh*t actually happened.
Let’s properly start things off with a video some friends posted on Facebook from the Mickey Mouse club. Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, some black guy and Ryan Gosling. Singing Jodeci. First off, I didn’t know Ryan Gosling was in the Mickey Mouse Club, let alone doing Jodeci covers. That alone makes this awesome, and that’s before you even get to the linen outfits and body rolls. Gotta thank my friends on Facebook for this, because otherwise I would have NEVER seen it!
I wonder if K-Ci and Jojo get high and watch this, just for kicks.
Now, let’s follow that up with the only logical progression, which is UGK. I consider this a guilty pleasure because it always makes me think of grimy strip clubs and naked women onstage with way too many tattoos on their bodies.
I’ll end today’s edition of Guilty Pleasure Friday with something that combines the horniness of the UGK song with the R&B of the Mickey Mouse Club Jodeci. The following song is one of the most niggerish ballads in R&B history, but I dig it. I don’t know what that says about me, but I don’t really care. You already know what time it is.
