That was some pretty good material for a first-timer. I think once you get more comfortable with your delivery and transitions you’ll be straight (cut down on some of the “uhs” and “likes”.)

Everyone laughed at your material so you know the jokes are gonna be on point. You might be one of those “funny story” type of comics. The crazy guy and Eugene jokes were funny!

    Good work!!

Thanks. That’s the main thing I’m working on, which basically boils down to “prepare more before going onstage.” I knew how I wanted things to go and where I wanted the punchlines to hit, but the rest I mostly ad-libbed, which is why those “uhs” and “likes” are there. I appreciate the feedback!

To go up there an ad-lib and still be funny takes some skill. At least you’re doing you. I’ve seen clowns get up on stage and do the material they try out at the bar-b-que and fight parties or do bad imitations of of Bernie Mac. That shit don’t translate to the stage.

I mean, I worked on it & memorized the routine for the most part…I just tried to keep it from sounding scripted & went with the flow. I did get carried away with the ad-libbing/messing with the audience & forgot to use one of my best jokes though, so I’m focusing on structuring things a little tighter next time.

You’re right about stuff that’s funny while holding court w/friends not being funny onstage. It’s totally different.

Good Job! You’re funny in conversation but it takes major cohones to bring it to stage in a cohesive way. Congratulations!

Thanks Charles. I’m going to an open-mic at this spot called Red Lounge on 14th Street tonight. I am trying out new stuff though, so it’s going to be hit-or-miss LOL. Come through around 8 if you have some time.
