Trayvon Martin Did Not Die For This…

Because we all know that folks at the strip club are thinking about justice and community upliftment while looking as naked chicks.

I have gone this long without doing a Trayvon Martin post, so it’s about time for me to chime in. Why not? It seems like everyone else has an opinion, and they run the gamut from insightful to utterly ridiculous. Judging from the above photo that the homie @AngryBlkManDC posted, even strippers are making political statements. I can’t lie though, seeing a dancer wearing something like that would make me second-guess placing one dollar bills on her butt cheeks. I’d have to pull her to the side, like “The strip club is no place for pseudo-deep political statements. All you have to remember is: Less THINKING; More SHAKING!”

Then again, seeing a stripper trying to capitalize off the tragic death of Trayvon Martin does not surprise me. There are all sorts of opportunists rearing their heads right now. When I first saw the party flier image below I wanted to say something eloquent and poignant, but by the time those thoughts made it to my mouth and turned into words, the resulting statement was: “WHAT TYPE OF N*GGA BULLSH*T?! AW MAN…God damn it all to Hell.”

Seeing a Trayvon Martin club flier, I can’t help but feel disappointed. The clowns who are trying to make money off this kid’s death should be ashamed of themselves. It’s bad enough that every day George Zimmerman walks free, it sends the message that it’s open season on black men. The police may as well say “Go ahead and shoot one; Nothing’s going to happen. You can go on about your business later.”

To know that I could be shot dead for nothing other than the fact that some people fear me because my skin is brown is very sobering and frustrating, to say the least. I could get murdered tonight, and the officer could ask my killer “So you’re saying that black guy’s shadow scared you and made you feel threatened? Alright. SELF DEFENSE! Case-closed. No need to bother with actual police work or legal proceedings since, you know, nigga shadows are a menace and must be stopped at all costs.

I really hope this flier is some kind of bad joke and not a real event. This thing actually says “Everyone free before 11 with an empty bag of Skittles” and “Lingerie Lounge will be wide open with the sexiest entertainers in NC.” Strippers and Skittles in Memoriam?! Don’t get me wrong, I am usually a cheap liquor, free wings and titty enthusiast. That said, I better not hear that anyone I know went to this party. If so, that person will officially be deemed too ignorant to be my friend.

Speaking of ignorant “friends,” how many of you all saw Joe Oliver, George Zimmerman’s token negro black friend spokesman get ripped to shreds and exposed as a fraud recently? If not, trust me, you want to watch this. I hope the Zimmerman family paid Oliver well for all of this. Otherwise, he made himself look like a dishonest jackass and media whore for absolutely nothing. This guy reminds me of a real-life version of Uncle Ruckus from the Boondocks, only his self-hatred is less entertaining.

Aside from the intelligent dialogue that has arisen concerning young black kids being killed (by both black people and white people), nothing good has come from this. I really hope that the public outcry surrounding this case makes it harder for another person to face the same fate as Trayvon Martin. To all of those who are so-called in support of the movement, please, be tasteful in the way that you show it. No more strippers, Skittle parties, or bounties being put on people’s heads. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for bringing this ignorance to light. I have never in my 30 years of life seen or heard such STUPIDITY! Using a young black mans death to generate money is tasteless and tacky!

Travon could have been my husband, my younger brothers, or any of my cousins. This story just hits to close to home for me to sit comfortably at home while my male family members walk the streets during the day or night.

God bless the Martin family, and I HOPE that these idiots of this said strip club get a clue, and QUICK!

A pissed off and Conserned mother, wife, and sister…..

Well said Leon. The ignorant byproducts of this tragedy are ironically feeding into the very mindset that allows the power’s to be to trivialize the life of black men in America. While one should definitely have nothing to do with the other, we must do better!

Where you have a cause, there too do you have people open to exploiting it for their gain. They’ve clearly misinterpreted the severity of the situation. Even at the rally at Freedom Plaza you had folks not quite in the spirit of things. Hoochie tops and paraphernalia with that poor child’s image on it; t-shirts and things. Way to go folks; that’s exactly what this little boy would want in memory of himself.

I’m going to pray that no one I’m even loosely familiar with has gone to a Trayvon Martin “scripper” extravaganza.

Saw the so-called friend who had never really spoken to Zimmerman before this. I’m glad to see the holes continue to open wide on this case but I’m tried of people doing what people do. I believe that all that “fellow” got was a voicemail message thanking him for his support….

It’s a shame that we feed the fire that’s out to destroy us.
