Uncomfortable Shoes

dress-shoes

Ever see a pair of shoes in the closet that you haven’t worn in a long time, and asked yourself “why don’t I wear these more often?” This happened to me yesterday. Since they looked perfectly normal, I put them on, and left for work. About halfway into my trip, I remembered EXACTLY why I stopped wearing them. Those shoes are EXTREMELY uncomfortable!

As I walked around yesterday, I was made to wonder why my right shoe evidently had a strong hatred for the back of my heel. I say this because it rubbed against me to the point that it drew blood. Good thing Achilles didn’t wear this particular pair of Cole-Haan hard-bottoms when he went to battle. If so, the Illiad would have been a short story instead of an epic poem. Poor Achilles would have walked on the battlefield and instantly collapsed, having bled to death from a dress shoe exploiting the only place an injury could get the best of him.  Read the rest of this entry »

Jimi Hendrix: 1 Night Only Halloween Performance in Washington DC

jimi-guitar

As you can clearly see, my soul was inhabited by the spirit of Jimi on Saturday night. I went to the same Halloween house party that I attend every year, and as always, I had a great time. more pictures of the ensuing mayhem and silliness are below.     Read the rest of this entry »

Who Dresses Like A Nazi for Halloween?!

indiana-jones-nazi

This morning, I heard that the ex-girlfriend of someone I consider a friend was walking around DC dressed as a Nazi on Thursday night. This is a person who has been in my house, drank my liquor and made small talk with me on a number of occasions, so I’m feeling some kind of way about the news.

Actually, f*ck “some kind of way.” I’m pretty damn angry right now! I’m glad I wasn’t there. I’d have said something to her that would have been so hurtful she’s have wished she was getting her ass whipped by Indiana Jones like main man in the photo above, instead of getting embarrassed by me at Steve’s Bar Room in front of people.    Read the rest of this entry »

5 Horror Films That Scared The Sh*t Out Me

creepshow_1

In the spirit of Halloween, here are 5 memories of horror films that scared the sh*t out of me at some point in my life. These movies themselves don’t really strike fear in my heart in 2009, but each of them is responsible for a moment that the macho, manly part of me is slightly ashamed to admit actually happened.  Without further adieu, the list is below…    Read the rest of this entry »

The Foreign Exchange DC Show Pt. 2: The Videos

I now present video from The Foreign Exchange show at the Black Cat on Sunday. Forgive my Foster’s-fueled trash-talk and rhyming along to Nic’s Groove at the beginning of this clip. My antics were referencing the episode of What’s Happening where ReRun was bootlegging The Doobie Brothers’ concert. That memory of ReRun dropping the tape recorder while dancing to “Takin’ It To The Streets” will never NOT be funny to me! The music stopped and everything! Michael McDonald looked at him like “I’m gonna knock 50 pounds of black off your big ass for taping my show!”

Don’t worry, there are more clips…but before I get to them, I have to give style credit where it’s due: Phonte’s hat/suit combo is as smooth as it gets. That outfit made ME want to go grown-man shopping and step my adult contemporary game up! Read the rest of this entry »

The Foreign Exchange DC Show Pt. 1

Nicolay and ListenToLeon

If you’re not up on The Foreign Exchange, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. It’s really that serious. You are missing out on true musical talent, in an era where chanting “AY! AY!” over a hot track like some kind of mentally challenged homosexual is all you need to get on the radio.

No offense to gay people, the mentally challenged…or even OJ Da Juiceman, because I’ll openly admit to having that song on my “guilty pleasure” playlist. All dumb-ass drug deal anthems aside, let’s get back on topic.

Sunday night’s Foreign Exchange show at the Black Cat in DC was flat-out great. I had a really good time, and I will continue to give Nicolay, Phonte, Yahzarah, Darien Brockington, Rapper Big Pooh and Co. good press over here on ListenToLeon.net as a token of appreciation for their music. Here are some of the highlights:     Read the rest of this entry »
