The Kanye West Dream
Posted by ListenToLeon on

I had the most random and weird dream last night. In the dream, I had a Sirius satellite radio show, and I was interviewing Kanye West. Well, Mr. West did his homework before the interview and got mad about me writing he should rap more and sing less over on Blackpower.net. So when he confronted me with his usual Kanye live temper tantrum tirade, I looked him in the eye, and said “You scare NO ONE, Kanye! Picture me getting b*itched by a n*gga in tight slacks…IT’S NOT HAPPENING! Sit down, be a man, and stop whining. It’s bad enough I paid $14 to listen to your pity party karaoke angst-riddled CD, now I gotta deal with this sh*t here when I’m trying to help YOU promote YOUR ALBUM?! You can be a professional and cut out this 8 year old temper tantrum mess, or you can see me in the parking lot after the show…and neigher one of us really wants that.”
So after that, the “Kanye Rebuttal” interview made me a rich man. From that point on, I became the Suge Knight of journalism, and Kanye stopped the temper tantrums. All’s well that ends well!
Basically, that was it. I only slept 3 hours last night, so I didn’t have time for more…

Paranoid

The way folks have been ripping Kanye West’s 808’s and Heartbreak album, I figure I’d chime in and give my opinion. I’ve only listened to the entire thing once, and my based off of that, I feel that it was an ambitious album, but Kanye doesn’t have the vocal ability to pull it off all the way. The songs are all kind of hit or miss, but overall it’s ok to me.
That said, I have been playing this track right here to death:
So I’m not giving 808’s and Heartbreak a bad review, but more of a “It’s aiight” review.
Oh yeah, I had to retire my “Swagger Scale” rating system, due to the fact that people have taken the term, and beaten it within an inch of it’s life. Right now, the word “swagger” is lying somwhere in the fetal position, bloodied and shivering. THAT’S what you unoriginal motherf*ckers did to the catch phrase I’ve bee using on here since 2004! The poor word may never be the same :(

Kanye West’s Heartless Video
Posted by ListenToLeon on
November 7, 2008
I just saw the video today for one of the songs I was playing to death before my iPod met it’s untimely demise. Thanks to the good folks at WorldStarHipHop for sending out this clip:
I love this song, and the video is pretty good. Once again, Kanye has taken things to a different level than most hip-hop artists as far as creativity is concerned. It looks like they originally shot this in live-action, then did some kind of color layering animation technique to it. Then again, I’m acting like I really know something about film making and animation. You can see from the piss-poor production quality of the “Leonmentary” that I put here yesterday, that I need to actually take some time to learn more, instead of completely relying on my sense of humor in lieu of my lack of technical skill! My Acceptance Speech

September 13, 2008
I don’t know if you all remember, but around this time last year, I just knew that I had the 2007 Black Weblog Awards Best Humor Blog category on lock. Then, when I didn’t win, it took every bit of strength in me not to go on a Kanye West-like tirade.
Fast-forward to last Friday. I found out that I won the category again for the second time in the past three years, yet I still managed to show less class than school on a Saturday by filming this drunken acceptance speech that night on my front porch:
As you can see, this video is completely unedited. I want you all to view it in all it’s crap-tacular splendor. Read the rest of this entry »

No One on the Corner Has Swagger Like Us

Not that I’d ever bad-mouth a man with guns than the National Guard and John Rambo in his house, but I definitely have to hand it to Clifford Harris and company: This joint right here is my official anthem for the immediate future:
T.I. feat Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil’ Wayne - Swagger Like Us
Once again, I must thank the good people at The Smoking Section for putting this up the other day. I just opened a random e-mail providing links to a bunch of “World Premiere” music…Most of which has already been posted by the T.S.S. crew, because they stay on their job like no other.
After listening to that, I feel like releasing some arrogant observations. Here goes: Read the rest of this entry »

Flashing Lights(2nd Version)
Posted by ListenToLeon on
May 24, 2008
I just got through watching the 2nd version of Kanye West’s music video for Flashing Lights. Apparently, Kanye made three different videos for this song, the first being the one with Rita G walking around the desert in her underwear and murdering someone with a shovel. It was a little…different…but Rita G in very little clothing is always a good thing, so the 1st version is Leon-Approved. Now, onto the second video for Flashing Lights:
