Guess Who’s Back?

Donnell Rawlings is back at the DC Improv this weekend. Last time he was here, I got a chance to meeting him after the show, since I’ve known his brother and sister in law for years. His stand up is just as funny as his work on Chappelle’s Show, so I definitely recommend it.
Speaking of his character work, this Ashy Larry photo is hilarious to me! That’s the type of ashy person that’s unsettling to look at in real life. This dude is so ashy, he looks like he’d flake up and shatter apart if someone were to throw a rock at him. If a strong wind blows by, his ashy body would probably turn into dust and blow away like Michael Jackson in “Remember The Time.” The fact that he’s in boxers and Timberlands only makes it more hilarious! Seriously, if you’re free this weekend, consider checking out the show. You’ll be happy that you did.

Eddie Murphy – The Cookout

I was listening to this earlier tonight. Just as I remember, it’s still hilarious!
“Your wife’s a Bigfoot isn’t she, Gus?”
“Goonie goo goo”
Ahh man…That routine is so funny, it makes you not even care about the uncomfortably ill-fitting leather outfit Eddie has on!

What You Missed Last Night
Posted by ListenToLeon on
July 16, 2009
Next time I tell you to come see me perform stand up…DO IT! I only know of about 3 or 4 people who came specifically to see me, and they all missed me since I performed first(which almost NEVER happens). I’m starting to get the hang of this telling jokes in front of people thing. I no longer wonder if people will laugh at the stuff I say, because it’s inevitable. I think the confidence stems from setting aside more time to prepare beforehand. That, and the fact that I’ve been joning on people my entire life. If a heckler dares to yell out something during my performance, I will take his or her dignity and self-respect in front of a live audience, like R. Kelly at a Jonas Brothers concert. Only, less creepy and disgusting. Read the rest of this entry »

Check Me Out Wednesday

My WiFi was acting temperamental again this past weekend, which is why there were no updates. You were forced to look at my silly Frederick Douglass part whenever you made your way over here. Since I forced you to look at that black Poindexter from Revenge of the Nerds looking image for over 48 hours, I shall repay you with the gift of live comedy. If you feel like hearing some Leon stories live and in person, come join me at Indulj on Wednesday night. The details are as follows: Read the rest of this entry »

Random Reflections

Normally, I would put this random collection of musings on Twitter, but I feel like sharing with everybody tonight. I know a lot of you haven’t made your way over there yet, so I don’t want to leave anyone out. I care, dammit! I am an equal-opportunity type of dude, so walk with me for awhile as I spew off a few random thoughts from yesterday. Read the rest of this entry »

Fat Tuesday Plans
Posted by ListenToLeon on
February 24, 2009

What are you all planning on doing for Fat Tuesday? It’s cold as polar bear balls here in DC, which makes it hard for someone like me to Pretend like I’m in New Orleans and get into the Mardi Gras spirit. Still, tonight gives folks an excuse to indulge in large amounts of liquor and show off their breasts for beads, so I expect that some of you will be partying somewhere, and hating life tomorrow morning at work. I saw this over at CultureKitchen, and thought I’d share it with you all. If you have ever given a PowerPoint presentation or had to sit through one, I’m sure you can relate to this.
