This Haiti Video

I usually don’t post stuff like this, since my site is comedic in nature. Still, the human suffering in Haiti has been on my mind every day since the earthquake hit. On one hand, it’s great to see this kid being rescued after 7 days trapped beneath a building. On the other hand, it makes you think about how many other people weren’t so lucky. It’s hard to even say the word “lucky” when you consider that kid has been trapped for days, but I guess when you think about the alternative, the term definitely applies.

I just felt like I should write something about what’s going on over there, since I haven’t. My prayers are still with the people of Haiti and their families.

Ed Lover’s C’Mon Son Shirt

A few months ago,  I was set to begin a video series over here called “Shut ‘Cho Ponk Ass Up.” The first episode was about the dude that yelled out “YOU LIE” to President Obama during the State of the Union Address, but right after I recorded my video of drunken rants, Ed Lover released the 1st C’mon Son before I could even edit my own clip.

Needless to say, it was back to the drawing board for me! C’mon Son achieved exactly what I was going for, just…funnier. I’m working on something else right now, so hopefully I won’t get out-shined by any more celebrities this time around!

On a side note, I really want one of these shirts! Somebody might get one as a Christmas gift or something.

The Foreign Exchange DC Show Pt. 2: The Videos

I now present video from The Foreign Exchange show at the Black Cat on Sunday. Forgive my Foster’s-fueled trash-talk and rhyming along to Nic’s Groove at the beginning of this clip. My antics were referencing the episode of What’s Happening where ReRun was bootlegging The Doobie Brothers’ concert. That memory of ReRun dropping the tape recorder while dancing to “Takin’ It To The Streets” will never NOT be funny to me! The music stopped and everything! Michael McDonald looked at him like “I’m gonna knock 50 pounds of black off your big ass for taping my show!”

Don’t worry, there are more clips…but before I get to them, I have to give style credit where it’s due: Phonte’s hat/suit combo is as smooth as it gets. That outfit made ME want to go grown-man shopping and step my adult contemporary game up! Read the rest of this entry »

The Foreign Exchange – I Wanna Know

The Foreign Exchange – ”I Wanna Know” from The Foreign Exchange on Vimeo.

Another video from one of my favorite albums in a LONG time, the Foreign Exchange’s Leave It All Behind, this one is for “I Wanna Know”. It continues the storyline from the Take Off Your Blues/Valediction video I posted up here months ago. I’m not making jokes this time, since this is a song that just about anyone whose been in a real, grown-up relationship can relate to. Everyone knows you sometimes have to lose a few battles to ultimately win the war.

“If you’re having girl problems, I feel bad for you son…”

Oh yeah, the Foreign Exchange is coming back to the Black Cat in DC on October 25. Just thought I’d share that for those of you interested in seeing them live.

ACORN Pimp Advice

I didn’t want to write about this at first, but ThroatChopU made me think about it again. That whole story about ACORN employees helping folks posing as pimps and hookers seemed too easy a target at first, but it is my civic duty to make fun of these people. I have to crack jokes, not only due to their lack of morals and integrity, but because they are dummies on top of everything else. Read the rest of this entry »

Hubie Brown Was Young Once!

Sometimes, when you look at famous people, it’s hard to imagine them as ever being young. A perfect example is Morgan Freeman. The man has been old since The Electric Company, and that show is before the time of most of the people reading this entry! It’s almost as if he came out the womb with fuzzy gray hair, narrating the experience:

“Although I was comfortable in the womb, I longed for more. The uncertainty that lay ahead of me in my journey to light appeared treacherous. Yet, I felt compelled to press onward, moving forward in my exodus from the womb.”

The basketball world has it’s own version of Morgan Freeman: Hubie Brown. Yes, Hubie, that most wise and sensible of game commentators. Sure, Hubie Brown was one of the world’s first white men with nappy hair. Sure, the name “Hubie Brown” sounds like it could belong to a janitor at the local YMCA. None of that matters, because Hubie brings a quiet dignity to NBA games in his old man way. Plus, judging from the video, he was  (kind of) young once!     Read the rest of this entry »
