One of the Perks of Blogging – Ladies Flag Football!

Sometimes I think to myself, “Leon, you’re unbelievably awesome. So awesome, in fact, that you’ve probably outgrown this blogger geek thing.

Then, there are days that remind me why I do what I do. One such day was last Sunday, when a friend of mine asked me to referee an all-ladies’ flag football scrimmage. I’m no mathematician, but even I know that women in workout clothes + action sports = ENTERTAINMENT. Plus, this was a flag football game, so there would be no women twice my size ready to whup my ass if I miss a call, as I’m sure would be the case if I were reffing a DC Divas full-contact game. Getting smacked around by ornery muscle-bound women is never cool. Not that I know from experience…I’m just saying. I’d like to keep it that way!

As expected, the practice was fun to be a part of. The ladies played hard, which actually impressed me. I know if I were coaching a team, they’d probably play like crap since I’d have them spend 90% of practice stretching like in that Drake video. Then again, that’s why I write about these things instead.

The league, DMV Diamonds All Girls Flag Football, was put together for more than just ogling women, however. It’s raising money for Real Results Kids Fit program, which provides nutrition and workout guidance for kids with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other metabolic disorders. The league is also looking to give scholarship money to kids involved in community service projects. To those of you who previously judged me for looking at hindparts on the field, SHAME ON YOU! I was staring for a good cause! Don’t judge me, dammit.

To any ladies interested in playing, or anyone else who wants to know more about the league, you can contact it’s founder, Kenneth Frasier at kfrasier.rrf@gmail.com or (804)878-6365. You can also email me and I’ll pass the word along. The ladies will be practicing again this Saturday, 5PM at Meridian Hill Park on 16th Street NW in Washington, DC. Whether you want to actively take part in the game or watch, feel free to stop by. The first actual game is scheduled for July 24, but Kenneth can give you more details on that.

Looking at hindparts for a good cause you say? You know NO ONE believes that, but we’ll accept that explanation this time. :P

But I do think the money they’re raising is for a great cause!

Women in shorts, playing with balls. I think I like it! All jokes aside. Great idea for a great cause.

@ Kindra, as much as you love football, YOU should come out there on Sunday!

How exactly do the ladies raise money? They don’t charge admission if we want to come and ogle them, do they? And do they do sexy little touchdown dances when they score? He-he, I said “score.”

Slim in the blue shorts in the 2nd pic is ’bout to execute a SWEET crack-back joint on the pursuit to free homegirl with the rock to turn the corner! Were those chicks really hittin’ like that?!

@ Anonymousnupe, they’re charging at the actual game. This was just a practice. To answer your question in the 2nd comment, yes, it got pretty physical out there!!!

@ Tracy K, I care about the kids! LOL
