Back by popular demand, You Know What Really Grinds My Gears returns for it’s 2nd installment on March 27th. In case you’re unfamiliar with the overall concept, this is a live event similar to karaoke. Instead of singing, people sign up to do random rants about what “really grinds their gears” a-la Peter Griffin from Family Guy over hip-hop beats. DJ Roz of Champion Sounds curates the musical experience, and I serve as your oh-so-hilarious host. Once again, it will be held at Cafe Saint-Ex in Washington, DC. More details can be found here.
The first You Know What Really Grinds My Gears, held in January, was very fun. My biggest fear going into the inaugural event was that someone really bitter would go onstage and say something so incredibly horrible that the vibe would turn negative as opposed to being tongue-in-cheek. My strategy of getting laughs early on to set the tone for the evening worked, thankfully. People saw what DJ Roz and I did, followed suit, and it remained a light-hearted affair. Now that I actually know what I’m doing this time, I cannot wait to see what off-the-wall stuff folks will rant about!
Here’s everything that you need to know, as well as another link to the Facebook invitation, since people tend to start airing their grievances early and placing rants there in anticipation of the party.
