Cleaning Up My Act (Literally) | Yeah...I said it

Cleaning Up My Act (Literally)

This has nothing to do with today’s entry. It’s just here because who doesn’t like seeing Teen Wolf dunking a basketball?!

Over the past few weeks, I have been reviewing and editing the content of my blog. I have written close to 2,000 entries, which is an impressive feat, and makes this task a daunting one. The down side to being so prolific over the years is that I can visibly chart my growth as a humorist and as a man through what I’ve written. I’m not ashamed of anything, but I do have some entries on here that I don’t agree with anymore now that I am older and wiser. It’s cool that I can see the incline of my maturity level in print. What’s not cool is that the rest of the world can see it too. Society is a much more sensitive place now, so knowing that, I kind of deserve to deal with judgement for jokes that cross the line.

To be completely honest, I don’t think much of what I’ve said here has been super offensive over the years. What I have noticed is that I’ve used profanity as a crutch way too many times before I studied my craft and got better at it. There are many other, much more impressive ways to be funny than just dropping a four-or-five letter word on folks. I’m not promising to be Bill Cosby clean from here on out, but I am going to put more thought into how I word things as opposed to letting the curse words dominate my keystrokes like they did in earlier years.

I know this entry wasn’t choc-full o’ jokes like what you’re accustomed to over here, but I felt like I needed to explain why I have not written in so long.¬†Whatever the case, thank you for allowing me this quick moment of introspection.

It’s all part of the process brother. Honing your craft requires patience, introspection, and of course talent. You are exhibiting all three.
